Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

Punchlines can't make jokes, they are the joke.

If you want to feel really ****ed off, check out this video from some victimized bigots. https://youtu.be/I6PPk2NOQXs

It doesn't make me mad, if anything it makes me kinda sad. Their happiness actually rests on keeping others unhappy. That's the most un-Christian sentiment possible.

Wow. Even worse that it's a Catholic organization. Bigotry was peachy keen for 2000 years, but now it's suddenly a problem? Hilarious. Not so fun INSIDE the barrel, is it?

I have been for gay marriage for years (possibly for a longer period of time than you) and was happy with the supreme courts decision on it. I was so because it allows freedom and acceptance for everyone for whom this is a way of life.

I'm not sure how you all missed the point of a video with the name 'Not Alone'. There were dozens of points made in the video...I don't think one was bigoted. Nobody said that gays are sinning and going to hell. Nobody said that gays are a problem for society. They showed people soul searching an issue for some that is not clear cut. How is that bigotry?

So you disagree with their point of view (and so do I). You could have just said 'huh...yeah, let's agree to disagree' and your reaction would have been on the same level as theirs'. But your overreactions show much less tolerance and more distain than this handful of individuals for whom gay marriage doesn't make sense. The whole video is about how others will look down on them for sharing their view. I guess they have reason to be concerned.

The point, which you missed, is appropriating LGBT themes of coming out to frame them as victims for not getting their way or having their bigoted views be accepted as the norm. They are not oppressed or facing intolerance for that. When they can be legally fired for hinting at being catholic then they can start acting like they face discrimination.

I'm sure they are really suffering but I couldn't care less. Maybe a few of all their gay friends can make them feel better. Since they all are such good friends.

On the plus here's a fun parody.

I don't agree with their POV. But where are these kids views intolerance and distain towards others? Clue...there ain't none and as such are they in no way bigots. They're concerned about negatively judged...and you've done so. You've proved their video is totally valid.

As bigotry is an intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself. There are a handful of posters that have been 100% consistently condescending towards/intolerant of Christians...and as such fit right in with the worst of them.

Challenge accepted - my mom's two gay cousins started bringing their partners (now spouses) to family events and reunions around 1975, when I was three. I don't ever remember being against gay marriage. What date you got?

You're the one who missed the point of the video, then, despite them trying to bludgeon it to death. The point of the video is NOT the bigoted views of the actors - it's the fact that they're portraying themselves as victims. Their views have been codified in law for centuries, enforced by police and the courts. Millions of lives have been ruined by bigotry against gay people - go watch the Imitation Game, if you haven't already. Now, on day 1 of a new era when the law suddenly doesn't reflect their bigotry, they're whining about being oppressed. Nobody is coming to arrest them or deny them one single iota of a civil right. The fact that people with different viewpoints are speaking up, loudly and proudly, is not oppression. Freedom of speech means you are free to speak (which those people clearly are) - it doesn't mean your voice is the only one that is allowed to be heard, and it might even mean, *gasp* that when you speak up there might be other people exercising their free speech who disagree with you. Wow, the horrible oppression of disagreement. Wherever will we build the monument to those brave souls who faced the scourge of disagreement?

They're trying to draw a parallel between what gays have faced for the last 2000 years with what anti-gay Christians are facing now. Please think about that, seriously and critically, for a few minutes and you will see the ridiculousness of it. They are completely hyperbolic on this and deserve ridicule for it.

Do you have to drive by the clue store so quickly, Bob? Hopefully you can at least get through Lynahfan's post.

This really was brave. To knowingly immortalize your own entitled idiocy for future generations to giggle at is one of the more courageous things I've ever seen.

You are true... patriots.

This is great.

My favorite line is "I'm just not comfortable unless we're talking about me." Where did some heterosexuals ever get the idea that gay marriage had anything to do with them?

I always want to tell the anti-gay marriage crowd, "Not everything's about you, kitten."

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

You guys think you're so great with this ****ing contest... listen, I helped Lincoln draft the Emancipation Proclamation 150 years ago. And he took out my part about endorsing gay marriage.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

If that's the best you've got left, perhaps it's just time to move on?

The biggest issue is that now you have female domination, and it is no longer acceptable for men to be men. The homosexual and metrosexual movement is an extension of said domination, because it designed to force a submissive mentality upon men by turning them into the feminist's perception of the man's perception of woman.

However, once you start bringing up things where females previously had an "advantage", such as chivalrous actions by males to make the woman's life easier, or even selective service, feminism goes right out the window, and they start to get all ticked off again that they aren't treated like queens or princesses.

(Sorry about quoting the wrong post before if you read that, mobile devices can be a pain)

Ever considered moving to an area that is more male dominated? Say the Middle East? Seems like you would fit right in.

Holy cow.

The men I know don't worry about what other people think, especially with people like you are our there worrying about them more than enough.

So your real fear is someone thinking you are gay, apparently.

It was actually 5mn you were challenging as to who was gayest before gay was cool, I just wanted to get in on the contest. I admit I might have stretched the truth a bit, all in good fun.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

Maybe Aristotle or whoever the heck that was back in Ancient Greece.

Re: The Power of the SCOTUS Part VII - The Bedrock of the Republic!

The Spartans had very little issue with teh gays.

I think that's putting it mildly. Didn't the Greeks consider it fashionable to keep a young boy around to rape a couple times a day? They could probably compete with either the papists or the figure skaters and come out looking quite gay.
