The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Thanks for the direct link to the location!

That's not the point. The point of tournaments is to reward the teams that win, not the teams that we perceive to be better. If that was the point then why even play the games? Just use the criteria to decide who the national champion is.

Results trump perception, and the RS database of results is overwhelmingly more significant in a statistical sense than that the data provided by a weekend tournament. That's the reason I have an issue with AQ's being awarded on that basis.

Having said that, looks likely that this year's NCAA field will include at least the 7 top teams in the nation. Not bad, all things considered.

I'd agree with that. I think winning your regular season conference championship should mean more than winning the tournament. In my perfect world, every regular season champion would be represented in the national tournament to decide which conference champion should be crowned the national champion.

But, in the world in which we live it is the tournament champion that matters and gets the cool hats and trophies, and there are still 3 pool C's to give out. And in that world, again I have to agree with you that this field is turning out to be pretty representative.

Which, of course, is the wish of the conferences. The NCAA lets the conference give out its bid however it chooses. All choose to reward the tournament champion.

There's a line in Sink the Bismark! - "Look out for Sheffield! Look out for Sheffield!!". We think it's obvious that there will be 3 East teams in Pool C. Is it? The committee this year has been religious in looking at the numbers before perceptions. I need to sit down and look at the Pool C eligibles again just for my peace of mind.

Trinity, Hobart and Oswego, with Point as the B. Anything else would be a little shocking.

This is my guess....

Plymouth@Oswego
Nichols@Plattsburgh
Hamline@Stevens Point

Quarterfinals
Norwich@Hobart
Osw/Ply@Trinity
Nich/Platt@Amherst
Ham/SP@Adrian

They wouldn't want to have to fly Hamline for that potential quarter final matchup at Adrian. The only potential quarter final match ups within 500 miles of Adrian are Oswego, Hobart, Point, or SNC.

I'll take a stab...

Plattsburgh @ Norwich
Plymouth State @ Oswego
Nichols @ Trinity

Quarterfinals
Hobart @ Adrian
Hamline @ UWSP
Plattsburgh/Norwich @ Amherst
Plymouth State/Oswego @ Nichols/Trinity

No flights, no muss! Hamline gets a bye, but the NCAA won't let that bother them...

Webb has spoken, and the folks in Oswego will not be happy.

So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me

Webb's prediction is predicated on the West committee doing something he's advocated for three weeks and hasn't happened yet (Eau Claire jumping St. Norbert in the rankings). Short of that, Eau Claire likely doesn't get to the table and Oswego is the last team is.

Be interesting to see tomorrow...

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Any reason why they pushed the selection show to Monday morning? I don't recall it being like that last year, was it?

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

I'm not so convinced Oswego will be ranked under Hobart

East chair, Bill Kangas was coaching in the NESCAC finals. And they've done Monday announcements before.
