The Official "My Team Got Screwed!" thread of the 2022 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament

Lol how on earth is that not offside?

I think the wonder is who touched the puck last. If it was AIC, it was not offsides. Seemed like Duke hit it last, but it was hard to tell- so the linesman could not make the call, apparently.

Since I was not really 100% paying attention to all of the previous games- I had not really noticed this- but can the NCAA adopt the B1G rules in terms of breaks???? Please? This game seems REALLY long. The B1G does one break at 10 min (instead of one every 5) and the intermission is 12 instead of 15 min. Those seem minor, but it has made a big difference watching B1G games.

Ok the misgivings of the current Pairwise are both highlighted and enumerated with the glaring reality that many good Buble teams like OSU this year don't make it. Northeastern, a 25 game and HE regular season champion would have been sitting home had the debacle with Bemidgi State ended differently. I think the NCAA needs to adopted at least two or perhaps even 4 play in games to address this situation going forward, a la practices recently adopted by NCAA basketball.

More than 1 in 4 of all D1 hockey programs are in the tournament. For comparison only 17% of D1 BB schools are in that one. It's enough.

I enjoy the BTN games for that reason, but the NCAA ain't passing up revenue

Has Hockey east ever been out of the regionals, last eight teams?
Until this year, dont think so. Amazing.

Having not really paid attention like I did 20 years ago- that comes as quite a shock.

As for the Frozen Four- the NCHC has at least one spot before the last 8 even play.

This is a first in the 16 team tournament.

30 years ago Hockey East went 0-3 in the 12-team super regional with New Hampshire and Boston University losing in the first round and Maine losing in the Quarters.

The constant Let's Go Huskies is quite annoying
The alternative is the stone silence the rink received from anyone wearing UMD gear. As a college hockey fan, I would have much rather had TWO fired up fanbases supporting their teams, but Tech can't force UMD fans to show up and vocally support their team on the road.

And in support of the thread title "My Team Got Screwed..."
That's a five minute major...???

Hitting the player that's already falling down would make it worse, as it's a hit on a player in a vulnerable position.

The official call on the ice was "checking from behind." That's the signal the referee have when he came out from review. It was a hit directly on the number, into the boards. As defined in the rulebook, it's a major. The CCHA wouldn't have even reviewed it unless the right teams were involved.

this is beating a dead horse but... having benefit of a longer time period and of a longer clip to view it from, both players were parallel to the boards and second it was not directly on the numbers. Having said that the B1G typically calls that play just as they did in the game. Other leagues don't. IMHO that play should be talked about more and the differences between leagues straightened out.

It's the NCAA semifinal. It's going to overtime.

And ESPN just bumped the game onto ESPNU so they could air some crapweasel baseball PREGAME SHOW.

This is beyond a joke.

Cue the Michigan fans posting here shortly about not getting a power play the entire game.
No doubt a huge weight lifted off the collective shoulders of the Fab Five this evening.
They are no longer the greatest choke in the history of Michigan athletics.
That honor now belongs to Marv and his "Sieve Seven" 1st round picks.
Bronco nation will be toasting the hockey gods this evening. Karma...

Remind me again where Western's team is this week?

To his dismay, not a single Michigan fan in here crying. It's also not a choke to lose in the FF just because you have high draft picks. Minnesota State was the best team on the ice of the four yesterday. Denver-Michigan was a toss up.
