Behind the bench
Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???
It is official, just not going to make it "public" yet because they are working behind the scenes on things.
I don't see it having an impact on Miami recruits. In recruiting terms I only see it benefiting college hockey by bringing the defects to the OHL back in play. Just because Penn st. is a name doesn't mean they will be great automatically and the current teams that are in the Big Ten already get great recruits. May make OSU more viable and they may get a hockey only facility now, but Miami has a boat load to offer kids still and will still get recruits. The big thing with this is the money. The Big Ten schools will make more money and will control the schedules. They won't have to travel to the likes of Lake st. or Ferris or Western anymore which drove people to the gate. That will hurt the smaller programs. But Miami will still sell out as will North Dakota and Denver. This won't affect the eastern programs one bit, if anything this will hurt the CCHA the most. WCHA is in a good position. They are fine with 12 but they are also fine with 10 teams when minny and wisco leave.
If/when this news becomes official what kind of impact do you guys think this will have on our recruits already in place for a couple years down the line? You would hope they don't jump ship but I guess you just don't know...
