The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

You do realize that you will continue to have a football team in Buffalo for about 23 seconds after Wilson dies, right?

Actually, Goddell is from WNY and and Terry Pegula of the Sabres and Tom Golisano are potential suitors for the team along with Jim Kelly leading a group of people including Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas amongst others. Imagine how hated Roger will be if he lets his home team leave on his watch.

I just want something done so I can be excited for once in my life. In a league that's getting younger and more dynamic, they are getting older and more senile.

Buffalo and Minnesota are similar in those ways I see. And the fact that they break hearts.

R.I.P. to the greatest Tight End ever, John Mackey. He's the reason the owners and the NFLPA need to take care of their retired players.

That's why when the lockout ends, they should keep the Bills locked out... or keep Ralph, Buddy and Chan locked out.

Or just keep the lockout going for all. It'd be nice to not have something consistently depressing me every Sunday until hockey season starts!

Anyone else think James Harrison needs to worry more about not popping guys in the head than how much money Ben Rapelisberger makes?

Hell, I'm just wondering if the Commish is going to get creative with his punishment. something like he has to sit out 6 games, but he's got to be there at the stadiums to entertain kids in a clown outfit. And maybe just to remind him to not take people's heads off, he has to wear a pink tutu.

Trade him to Buffalo. That would be punishment enough. :D

If I were the commisioner, I'd throw him out of the league and know the Steelers will replace him with another guy in 3 minutes...one who hopefully appreciates the league, teammates and the health of fellow players. Of course I would have thrown Ben out too for raping drunk girls, so what do I know?

As we are learning quite clearly during the last season and the lockout, it is about money, the brand, the long-term health of players and money..players come and go, not 1 of them is big enough to hold a team or the league down. Teams can move, rules can change, the long-term product needs to be protected and while Harrison's comments aren't enough to really do damage, I'd toss him to demonstrate the proportion of one moron vs. the whole enterprise.

Owners have ratified a 10-year CBA by a 31-0 vote. The Raiders have abstained from the vote. Al Davis is probably getting ready to sue someone or something.

Surprised the smaller owners (Cincy, Buffalo and KC) didn't vote against it due to the salary floor.

Also, I do hope the Hall of Game is played because I'd love to see CM Punk taunt James Laurinitis.

Early reports have the players greeting the proposal unenthusiastically.

The ESPN Radio I'm half listening to says the owners tacked on a "supplemental revenue sharing agreement" onto this proposal.

I'd probably be annoyed by that myself.

Now Schefter saying the deal will get signed, either tonight, tomorrow, or next week Tuesday.
