The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Interesting. Now that Sony and the NFL have a deal in place offering NFL Sunday Ticket via PS3, DirecTV is including it free for new subscribers.

New subscribers get everything. But being a customer for the last decade plus gets me nothing. :( Free trials of the crappy GSN Game Lounge not withstanding.

Yep. I have to call because my free HD credit expired and has to be renewed. Going to complain about Sunday Ticket being free for new subscribers, but they want me to pay $350. Don't think so.

Most of the discussion with DirecTV Insiders (now called "Pulse") has centered around better rewards for longtime subscribers. They've talked about it for a long time, and we've offered lots of suggestions, but don't see a whole lot of action on their part.

My contract (due to HD upgrades) ends in December. Then I am dropping them and just going with internet TV. Will save me a ton, as I am really not watching much TV these days.

Well, due to President Obama's speech tonight, all the NFL Pre-Game stuff (the concert, etc.) will be moved to NBC's cable networks (i.e. USA, SyFy or something). I'm sure you're all relieved I let you know this as I know nothing says start of the NFL season like a Maroon 5 concert. Check your local listings or cable guide!

Look at this way Buffalo and Cleveland fans, you start out in first place.... (because you are alphabetically first)

Hearing that windbag talk might actually be better than a Maroon 5 concert. Luckily I have stuff DVR'd so I don't have to put myself through the misery of watching either. If the jackwagon delays the football game though, I will get my pitchfork and join the state directly to my east in a good old fashioned...wait can't say that, he's black.

Marshawn Lynching?

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Manning had "neck fusion" surgery today. Out indefinitely.

Everyone wave goodbye to the Colts.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Wow, 3 hour NFL Countdown and a 2 hour NFL Live on ESPN now per the new 8-year deal signed to keep MNF.

I thought 2 hours was more than enough.

3 hours? Ugh. There's like 2-3 games of interest tops on any one Sunday, which means this is going to be like 90 minutes on a Jets-Pats or Packers-Cowboys game and a 40 minute rush on the other 8 games that day. 45 minutes on the Jets and Pats was quite enough.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

I wonder if the commish will push the Colts to have a bad season and then push Luck into the draft. :D
That really wouldn't be that bad of a place for him to land at. Peyton isn't going to be that good this year because of his neck, but I think if he's smart, he doesn't rush things and the Colts could get another 2 years out of him after this season. Luck could go there and spend some time getting some seasoning without having to be rushed into duty, other than hopefully in a lot of mope up duty in games. Beats going to Buffalo for him anyways.

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

since my picks are always so popular.... the money was laid today.

AFC
Pittsburgh (8-1) [could have had 10-1 before the manning news broke-oh well]

NFC
Detroit (25-1)
St Louis (30-1)

1) it is hard to repeat
2) no way, NO WAY, the eagles are going to go all the way.
3) can't go with the cowboys. just can't
4) falcons take a step back
5) little value with the saints (6-1)
--that was my thinking on the NFC participant.
