The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

The Pack are an early 3 point favorite. As they should be.

I don't know, I feel like that's a little high. Are the Packers really 6 points better on a neutral field? Especially considering the two real close games the two teams have played this year.

The way they destroyed Atlanta? I'd say that's fair. The odds will correct themselves if need be by the end of the week.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying though. I feel like the line is a little high because of how they played in Atlanta, with the oddsmakers virtually ignoring the two previous GB-Chicago matchups this year, which I don't think you can do.

You could. The way the teams are playing, their opponents so far, injuries, etc. I think it'll end up around 4.5-5.5, as WI fans in general are notorious for betting a ton of money and swaying the odds a bit.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

IIRC, the Vikes and the Pack have only played 1 playoff game before.

It's odd how that all works out.

Um, no offense, but that's not even close to the same thing. The Bears and Packers were in the league for 40 years before the Vikings even existed, with the Bears winning 6 NFL Championships (making the title game 10 times) and the Packers winning 5 (8 title games) between 1933 and 1965. The two teams were in almost 2/3 of the title games (no playoffs before 1933) pre-Super Bowl and only met in the postseason once. That's amazing...

Didn't know if they were including all of football history or just NFL history (just caught the basic fact about them meeting once before).

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

I just found it stupid that ESPN probably sat on the story until today. Just so they could get more buzz? Whatever the reason, it took this long for it to come out?

Well, these are the same people that just listed a Packers/Bears segment as "Rivalry Renewed" on Sportscenter. I guess that's true, if you ignore the fact that they play twice a year every year.

The most disgusting thing Joe Buck's ever seen...

I found it hilarious that anyone who looked into it, found that Joe didn't realize the significance of that; being that Packers fans "for real" mooned the Vikings bus as it came into town. Total lack of research on his part.

Go Steelers, btw. I guess.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

I know a lot of people hate the Patriots, but I don't know how anyone can root for the Jets. What a bunch of dbags--pretty much all of them. Seeing Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes on ESPN.com makes me want to puke.

The Pats made key mistakes in every area of the game--credit to the Jets. The Pats were never as good as their 14-2 record indicated, but obviously they're a much better team than they showed yesterday.
