Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Given how empty Sullivan Arena typically is perhaps UAA should provide directions to it as well.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Yeah, but it's easier to get directions when you have the name of the city correct. And I wouldn't call Sault Ste. Marie a craphole...I mean, it's not in Ohio.

I'm wondering where Huntsville, Ala is. Is that Alaska? I found the combination of postal codes "AK", full state names, "Ohio" and random abbreviations "Minn, Mich, Wis, Ala" interesting in the schedule you posted.
All it is, is a horrible combination of USPS and AP standard abbreviations.

"Ala." is the former US Postal Service abbreviation for Alabama. Alaska was not abbreviated under the old system. Mich, Minn and Wis are also the old USPS abbreviations. Ohio was another state that was not abbreviated.

Yeah, it's AP style. Also, we play our games on the moon, which is why we had to pay a travel subsidy.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Paula Weston has some good insight into the finality of the CCHA. A resting place has been chosen.
http://www.uscho.com/2013/03/06/the...-its-history-will-have-a-final-resting-place/

Bowling Green, as a charter member and final member of the CCHA, will house the Mason Cup (replica) and associated CCHA items and paperwork for ten years (or longer hopefully).

And, Paula finds that the original Commissioner wasn't too fond of how his successor handled the situation. Paula does some editorializing to redirect some flak, but the commissioner's letter is pretty scathing.

Also noteworthy: Rico Blasi admits that the "CCHA needed to be blown up, and we had to do it," [by forming the NCHC].

Hahaha, I like how he used the Titanic Analogy just like I used the Costa Concordia shipwreck :D

Hot air baloons, rocketships, and riverboats.

The WCHA: It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Conference.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Rumor has it that the WCHA will be releasing a composite schedule this afternoon.

No truth to the logo rumor that they're enlarging the size of the W by 1400% to be more representative of how large the conference is distance wise.

I hope they do release a full schedule

Here's the composite schedule so far.

Notice who scheduled who though. UAA is hosting AHA schools and UA_ is hosting the NCHC schools.

Non-Conference for BGSU still doesn't have dates confirmed but will include games against:

Colgate, Union, a Home and Home vs Ohio State, and the Three Rivers Classic Tournament (between Christmas and New Years) and will feature Robert Morris, Penn State, and Boston College.

I have a composite schedule completed for the WCHA with known NC games on it, will try to get with aparch to update the googledoc. Also came up with a potential 4 year rotation. Its a little screwy because they didn't stick with the balanced 6 games for each team against each pair, but that might be a product of the late addition of Huntsville. It's hard to say.
Needless to say it should be very similar to the old WCHA 10 team schedule, other than your designated rival, over 4 years you play every team in the following rotation
Home, Both, Away, Both. It basically guarantees that no team goes more than 1 year without playing in your building and any team that you only played at home last year, you will play in their building the next year.

Sounds good Shirtless. You have GMail? Send me an e-mail thru the board and I'll add you as an editor.

I'm surprised they used the verbiage "WCHA Final Five Championship" at the end of that schedule. I thought they were dumping that format? A play-in game on a Thursday evening in Grand Rapids (or St. Paul) seems like a waste of resources, and fans time of the losing school.

Maybe they will just find a way to keep calling it the Final Five like the Big Ten. I thought I sent an email already.
