Because of the imbalance from not playing the same number of league games, I would set the standings by win%.
So, using 2014 playoff rules, and if the season was over:
MSU-M hosts UAH (fewest league wins vs NMU)
FSU hosts NMU
LSSU hosts UAF
BGSU hosts MTU
BSU and UAA are asked to stay home.
If you go by points:
LSSU (more league wins over MSU-M) hosts BSU
MSU-M hosts NMU
MTU hosts UAF
FSU hosts BGSU
UAA and UAH asked to stay home.

I wish I knew how to set up and use FightingSioux23's simulator. Could be a fun one to try and sim out what the 2013 WCHA Championship would have been. Hmm, that throws a wrench in the rotation I thought was clear from the BGSU schedule. I don't know why the schedule would be setup to have UAA play both BGSU and UAH 4 times while only playing MTU & NMU twice each. I thought it would be 6 games against each pair. 2 vs one, 4 vs the other. Need to see a few more schedules to figure out the system...unless the first year is a little messed up because of the late addition of UAH.

Hate to burst your bubble, but given the choice, most schools will want to play the best available teams. This isn't some vendetta game. If Fairbanks had to choose between inviting DU and WMU, or inviting a couple lower echelon AHA teams, it's an obvious choice. This is why Tech has been rumored to be actively working on OOC contracts with UMD, Michigan, MSU, Notre Dame, etc.
