Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Aw shucks, ya caught me. I'd be lying if there wasn't a trace of a smirk there, if only because I knew you'd end up bursting a few blood vessels instead. ;)
Here's what's really interesting. That this Facebook generation of people like you seem to think that words offered without any emoting are somehow to be interpreted as angry. So in their deep insecurity they offer up false emoticons as if they really mean it; i.e... your cute winky thing. Here's a protip for life. There is a wide range of people out there who express themselves in various ways other than the facetious Facebook paradigm of false-niceness. When you attach emotions to their words that is something you have done. Not them. It's likely a reflection of your own self-doubt and loathing.

Either that or your Internet Virtual Emotion Detector is in desperate need of maintenance.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Interesting that they play a non-conference series at Wisconsin.

I'm sure that UW is writing a nice sized check to cover UAA's expenses for the trip (with some extra in addition) and the schools may have even reached a verbal agreement to play in UAA's tournament sometime in the future, many coaches like the trip to AK as a nice team bonding experience since so few friends and family make the trip their are fewer outside distractions.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Hate to burst your bubble, but given the choice, most schools will want to play the best available teams. This isn't some vendetta game. If Fairbanks had to choose between inviting DU and WMU, or inviting a couple lower echelon AHA teams, it's an obvious choice. This is why Tech has been rumored to be actively working on OOC contracts with UMD, Michigan, MSU, Notre Dame, etc.

The Ferris St AD said during this weekends radio broadcast that next year MSU and FSU will play in a tournament in GR called something like the college hockey hall of fame classic (don't exactly remember the name). I would be surprised if this was something Western wasn't also involved in (the AD didn't mention them though). He also said contract has yet to be signed.

FSU and UM will play each of the next three years. 13/14 @UM, 14/15 @FSU, 15/16 @ UM.

He only mentioned those two series when specifically asked about playing the B10 teams in the future.

Did the WCHA officially announce it was hosting its tournament in GR next year? I had been waiting to hear, but maybe I missed the announcement.

Not official, but it's a pretty poorly kept secret.

I understand respecting the current WCHA and farewell of the CCHA... but there is genuine interest in what the new WCHA will be like where this information needs to leak out.

Here is the problem with that...without this information out there, all I hear on Gopher broadcasts and elsewhere is that this is the final season of the WCHA. no qualifier about the fact that it its the last season for 8 of the teams or anything like that. Radio shows can discuss what UND, SCSU, UMD are doing next year at Target Center, etc but no mention of the plans for the WCHA after this year. Now granted, I'm not sure much would change if this stuff was official based on the Gophercentric nature of the MSP market but I just want to slap people that act like the WCHA will disband like the CCHA. Tom Chorske was on KFAN this morning and his discussion of the future of college hockey in the west was pathetic at best. The host was asking dumb questions and Chorske was giving even dumber answers. Neither of them knew much of what they were talking about. Stuff that has already been hashed out...like the Minnesota tournament and the fact that Minnesota will continue to play BSU, MSUM, UMD and SCSU was nonexistent. It was all about how they hoped the Gophers would continue to play local teams going forward...idiots.

Glad that the GC isn't scheduled over the holiday break like it was several years back. That was even worse than the current two game series.

UAA's 2013-14 schedule has just been released ...

Interesting that they play a non-conference series at Wisconsin ... and that UAF invites two teams from the ButtHurt Conference to their tourney.

The Duluth News Tribune posted UMD's schedule a few weeks ago and Tech comes to Amsoil next season 10/11 and 10/12. I thought I heard UMD makes the return trip to Houghton the following year. I hope it will be an annual series.

They'll make the official announcement at the WCHA final five

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

UAH's hockey SID told me that there was an agreement to not share league-only schedules. We're finalizing ours and will release it when it's ready.

Might as well put Tech at UAF the opposite end of thanksgiving break.

Here's the composite schedule so far.

Notice who scheduled who though. UAA is hosting AHA schools and UA_ is hosting the NCHC schools.

I thought Bowling Green had listed that they were hosting BSU on March 7 and 8.

Also, UND released a tentative schedule a while back that had BSU play UND at home on January 17 and in Grand Forks on January 18.

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Directions to out of the way irrelevant crapholes have always been part of the requirement for entry into the WCHA. How else do you think anyone finds Bemidji?
Yeah, but it's easier to get directions when you have the name of the city correct. And I wouldn't call Sault Ste. Marie a craphole...I mean, it's not in Ohio.

I'm wondering where Huntsville, Ala is. Is that Alaska? I found the combination of postal codes "AK", full state names, "Ohio" and random abbreviations "Minn, Mich, Wis, Ala" interesting in the schedule you posted.
