The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I don't like only playing a 14 game schedule. But maybe that's what we'd be stuck with.

UAA and UAF can throw some more money for a 28 gamer but I dunno. There's ways to lessen the impact but keep in mind, we'd be doing some * traveling ourselves. 3 times to the UP? Ohio? Not fun, not cheap.

Oh, I know. We're all ****ed here.

The leftovers could form CHA II and call it the Deuce. If nothing else, it fits well with the BHHC.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I'm not on any side. This whole thing is a big disappointment and I have always wanted for the WCHA to remain the way it was, with UW in it. I was hoping you guys would be the victims of contraction. :p Has anyone checked your Title IX balance lately?

What I realized though, when Delany & co. didn't call me for my opinion was that I have absolutely no say in this. I was unhappy for a year or two (coz this was first mentioned a few years ago) and then saw the writing on the wall and realized that it was inevitable and decided to accept it and move on.

It's still kinda fun to declare blame on UND though. They're Nazis you know! ;)

Once Penn St went D1, we all knew it was over. It was a matter of how. So instead of inviting other schools to bring the WCHA back to 12 (still not an ideal conference size, but that's a whole 'nother rant), UND/DU invited the other semi-cool kids to an exclusive party. That part would be considered almost tinfoil-hat territory a few years ago. Maybe even after the B1G MISTAKE agreement. Now? The ridiculous has happened.

Obviously we all have to accept it. But I'll be dammed if I like it one *ing bit. And I'm in the "have" fanbase. This blows.

The B1G MISTAKE got caught changing the landscape of college hockey, we're not going to white-collar Super Conference. No, no, no. We're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS Conference.

I'm pretty sure I'm out for the Frozen 4 next year, and every year after. I won't spend my money to watch any of these **********s play hockey.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I remember when UAA and SCSU and MSU-Mankato joined the WCHA. I remember when NMU left. The UND through the WCHA helped to develop programs at all those schools and Bemidji and Omaha.

What?

Specifically what outpouring of support did UND do for schools just starting up.

The top reason UND stayed in the WCHA was because of Minnesota and Wisconsin...not any need to help programs trying to build. Evidenced by the full two months it took them to leave once WI and MN were gone.

When SCSU, MSU-M, and BSU were starting up, how many times did UND play them, to help them schedule, before they were in the league. Heck, how many times has UND traveled to BSU for games? I know Minnesota's first ever visit to BSU was this past season when forced to by WCHA schedule. UND had been there non-conference many times.

UND pushed for addition of BSU and Omaha to the league to help them. Wisconsin and Minnesota were not as positive.

That outpouring.

The Big Ten has done what it needed to do for its money (Big Ten Network) and its interests. Don't be a hypocrit and begrudge UND and DU for looking out for their interests.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Sicatoka was wrong about Minnesota's first game in Bemidji, but he was right about the fact that UND was a very early, and strong supporter of the BSU, Mankato and SCSU programs. I suspect that if you looked up the game records you would see that UND played more games earlier at each of those program's home rinks than the other major WCHA programs. UND, unlike some of the other college hockey "haves" has also had a pretty solid tradition of being willing to travel to games around the country, forfeiting what are obviously very profitable home games, unlike some programs like Michigan.

This is why this decision, and UND's role in it, makes absolutely no sense at all. Faison (and I'm assuming it's Faison) has just p****d decades of goodwill and worthy efforts to develop college hockey down my leg. And I do intend to let him know about it.

I'm glad to read this. I had always thought that the Sioux were very good about playing the little guys, which is why I'm so shocked to read about the way they went about it. I hope there are more people like you in the UND family that realize the massive mistake that has been made.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I will miss being at the Final Five at the X and all the atmosphere that went along with it, what a sad day.

100 years from now we can all look back at this and laugh. Of course we will not be the US anymore and probably ruled by apes. But still, we can laugh.
