The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Good effort from Duluth. Not too shabby for a team that finished in the bottom half of the conference.

As for Miami, difficult circumstances for the RedHawks. Your top 2 goal scorers out and facing Providence in Providence, get down 4 then nearly come back.

It will be interesting to see the DU-PC game tomorrow. NCHC now 5-2 out of conference with 1 team already in the Frozen Four. Could potentially have 3 teams in the Frozen Four...not too bad. :p:D:D

Big Brother (HE) has a winning record against every other conference this year including NCHC 9-8-1

Some context: Of those 18 games, 7 involved teams in the bottom 25% of the NCHC standings. Only 1 featured a bottom-25% HE team.

Carry on...

That would be neat, but it is incorrect. HE is only .500 against the WCHA this year. They could very well be .500 against the NCHC after today as well.

Also interesting...if Omaha beats RIT this afternoon, the NCHC will have eliminated a team from every conference in the NCAA Tournament.

So far:
ECAC: Quinnipiac (UND) and Harvard (UNO)
B1G: Minnesota (UMD)
Hockey East: Boston College (DU)
WCHA: Michigan Tech (SCSU)
NCHC: St. Cloud (UND)
Atlantic: ???

Congrats to Omaha and North Dakota! Hockey East vs. NCHC in the Frozen Four...should be a great weekend of hockey down in Boston.

Also, with Omaha's victory, the NCHC knocked off a team from EVERY conference. Throw in that 5/8 Regional Finalists were from the conference, and no doubt that the NCHC was the dominant conference in college hockey this year.

Atlantic Hockey: RIT (Omaha) - Check
ECAC: Quinnipiac (North Dakota) and Harvard (Omaha) - Check
Hockey East: Boston College (Denver) - Check
WCHA: Michigan Tech (St. Cloud) - Check
B1G: Minnesota (Duluth) - Check
NCHC: St. Cloud (North Dakota) - Check

First time in history that ONE conference has knocked out a member of each of the other six...:p:D:D

Hockey east went 3-1 against nchc this weekend. They are the two best leagues and send two reps each. We'll see what happens...

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Hockey Least certainly got the benefit of some home cooking with the officiating. Should have been an all-NCHC Frozen Four!

:p:D:D

In all seriousness, it should be a great Frozen Four. I'm really looking forward to both matchups.

You think YOU are!

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

This past weekend was a tremendous showcase for the NCHC.

Our conference (rightfully so?) caught some flack in the past year or so about a poor television deal and a relative lack of exposure (relative, because it is college hockey after all). But this weekend was a welcome tonic for that.

12 tournament games played, 10 of them featured NCHC teams. All four regional finals included at least one NCHC team. 5 of the 6 NCHC teams in the tournament got to play two games on the weekend. Numerous instances of either the in game or intermission commentators referring to the NCHC conference as the strongest, or reminding viewers the conference placed 6 teams into a field of just 16. 75% of our conference got featured on the ESPN networks for 3 days. That's about as good as it's going to get in college hockey.

As a UND fan, I also don't think the tournament hurt our recruiting efforts. To the 13 or 14 year old hockey player tuning in, where do you want to play? Those darkened morgues in Manchester, Providence and South Bend? :)

Providence went 2-0 vs the NCHC, and has a chance to run the table and go 4-0 vs the NCHC en route to a championship.
