The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

The committee has done the same thing to Hockey East and ECAC teams (just last year they did it). They are doing it for attendance, not some imagined fear of an intra-conference FF. Again, if you think it matters to the NCAA that there aren't 4 NCHC teams in Boston, then wouldn't they also not want 3 NCHC team + Michigan Tech or Mankato?

Let me rephrase my original statement: change "western" to "same-conference." This will reflect "conference loyalists" who think "Hey, if my team can't win it, I hope my conference does." FTR, I don't understand those people.

I don't think they try and do it for attendance. I think they want parity in their sport and four teams from one conference is not good for that. Isn't the frozen four already sold out anyway? Only the secondary markets are going to get hurt by a bunch of Western teams making it.

If they were so concerned about attendance, they really should change the bidding process for the regional locations!

This is why I brought in TV viewership and concessions (if the NCAA gets a cut of the concession profits; I don't know if they do or not).

Go SCSU!

Looking for a Minnesota conference sweep: SCSU, MSU and U MN.

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

The NCAA will do all it can not to have that happen (for bracketology). Ever since the all-WCHA F4 a few years back, it's been like that.

Yeah, but if we occupy all 4 #2 seeds, then their hands are tied.

I have seen some brackets in the past that DO NOT support this. Ever since the all WCHA frozen four, the committee has not placed four teams from the same conference in different regionals and instead have put teams like North Dakota, Denver, Wisconsin, and Minnesota in the same regional MULTIPLE times (when they were in the WCHA)! Now, they are probably going to have to put NCHC teams in four different regionals because they might have four #2 seeds from the NCHC according to where the teams sit in the pairwise. I still don't think the committee wants to even think about an all NCHC frozen four.

They put eastern teams in the east and western teams in the west for multiple reasons; one, fans can travel cheaper. Two, it'll bring more $ to the regionals. Three, don't forget that the players and coaches probably like travelling closer too. I swear, we put all the west teams together and the east teams together and fans *****. But then when a team always travels far for the NCAAs, we ***** too.

They ABSOLUTELY do it for attendance. They couldn't care if the Frozen Four was BU, BC, Northeastern and Harvard one year... they try to balance a fair tournament with having whatever will allow the most attendance. If they didn't care for attendance then they wouldn't make it so the host team always gets to go to their regional. Its not fair if the host team is a 3 or 4 seed but get to be at home, but that's the way it is.

That thread is coming tomorrow ;)

Decent start for the NCHC teams in day 1 of the NCAAs. Let's see more of the same Saturday.

Yep. But according to some of the Tech fans, St. Cloud isn't a good team. So I guess our win doesn't count.

Some Tech fans, but not all. I think St. Cloud knows how to win. I think we outplayed you, but in the end, it's goals in the net that counts. Good luck the rest of the way.

That's why I said some. Thank you.

I agree you outplayed SCSU tonight. Our goalie made many great stops and we made you pay when you made mistakes.

Good teams find ways to win when they don't play well. Inexperienced teams find ways to cough it up sometimes.

All chest thumping aside, today we find out how good the NCHC really is. All six teams still standing. How many of those six will be playing after Sunday, ie. make it to the FF?

I think all season we've seen how good the NCHC really is, but you, like everyone outside of the NCHC fanbase, wants to use a small sample size to show whether its a good conference or not. And in that small sample size, we seem to be 3-0. One NCHC team for sure is in the Frozen Four, and honestly that's not a bad season for any conference. Of course if we get ONLY 2 teams in everyone's gonna go "See.. the NCHC sucks!" :D

Six.

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

I think they should add more regionals so every nchc team gets to host one. It's only fair.
