Ender's Game with Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley. Just awful.

You expected anything else? Rumor has it that back in 2000, Orson Scott Card wanted the kid who played Anakin in The Phantom Menace to play Ender. :p

Not that I care, as I always thought that series was grossly overrated.

Bad Grandpa:

Standard Jackarse fare when it comes to pranks on the unsuspecting public, and it's still funny. The difference is the story they create around the pranks, which is actually kind of cool. It was done well, and melded into the second-to-last final prank in a top-notch fashion. If you're a fan of Jackarse, then see it now. If you haven't seen any of the Jackarses, then this is actually a good introduction to their style of humor.

Took the kids to the Lego movie. I noticed them giggling more often than during any family movie since probably Despicable Me. For me it was fine with a few slow spots about 2/3 of the way in.
Just saw this. Hilarious! Granted I played with Legos when I was kid (and maybe a little now ;) ) so this movie is up my alley.

Brent, I'm tally surprised you gave Bad Grandpa a good review. I love Jack***, but thought BG was atrocious.

I actually like that branch of the Jackarse humor more than random crazy stunts that they do. That helped me like the movie. When you can incorporate unsuspecting people into the joke...always a win with me.

Look at that... we agree again.

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

I enjoyed the pranks in Bad Grandpa but the plot was so slow moving, it just got boring waiting for the next jackarse moment.

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

Ender's Game sucked if you know the book at all. If you were going in blind it might've been passable. But even then, they did a very **** poor job trying to obscure the "surprise" ending. And you'd have no idea why Ender is supposedly the savior rather than everyone around him.

The wife and I made it through the whole thing, but mainly from a "how much more are they going to change the book" perspective rather than actual enjoyment. Almost turned it off 30 minutes in. So glad we didn't pay to see it in the theater.

So wait...people still pay the Jack*** people to make movies? Even more, people pay to WATCH them? Maybe Darwin was wrong...

Scooby posted this back in August.

Blue Jasmine: "Cate Blanchett = Oscar!"

She won the Golden Globe last night. My prediction still may come true.

Prediction, true!

Watched Dallas Buyer's Club about a week ago...

Matthew McConaughey = Oscar

Jared Leto = Oscar

Prediction, true!

Both are very good movies! Although, Blue Jasmine was not nominated for Best Picture--could have tacked that on for a tenth nominee. (?)

Looking forward to watching the other nominated films...

I would like to point out that the guy who co-wrote "Let it Go" also wrote "The Internet is for Porn". I'm not passing judgement, I'm just laughing at the fact.

Just saw 300: rise of an empire.

I don't think it was quite as good as the first, and I think they overdid it a little with all of the CGI blood coming out of guys everytime they just nicked the guy. But I will tell you guys this. Eva Green is one **** badass beytch!!!! I'm pretty sure a lot of dominatrix's out there are now going to have to update their wardrobes to have something that comes from some of her getups in the movie. :D

Just saw it today.

BLOOD EVERYWHERE! BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD! ALL THE BLOOD! And the main villain (the female naval commander) was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face.

Overall, the movie was okay, certain parts were awesome, but the stuff I mentioned above really took away from it. There's a LOT of opportunities for some MST3K-type lines during the movie.
