Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

Before that we watched A Muppet Family Christmas which is an annual tradition - unlike the rotation of Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Scrooged, etc which get watched every third year or so.

Quite possibly my favorite Christmas show/movie and favorite Muppet anything.

So... perfect.

We were going to watch that this year, but couldn't find it. It was before my time but my dad and sister love it.

It was a tv special back in the 80s.

It's out of print and the American version had some cuts, so not only do you have to find a used or pirated version, you want the euro release.

Took me a bit, but I found it for reasonable on eBay and eventually also found it on torrent.

If you have a file transfer or ftp, I counld get the torrent to you to surprise them with...

Think it's like 750 mb.

My wife and I have been Watching The Ref with Kevin Spacey and Dennis Leary as our Christmas movie for a number of years now. Cracks us up every time.

We went and saw Top Five yesterday. It's pretty good.

However, everybody knows the best of all Christmas movies is Die Hard.

Polar Express

My younger son got it in his stocking and none of us had seen it.

The cgi is dated, but I liked it quite a bit as did he and the wife. Made good use of the surround and big screen too.

The Lego Movie

In terms of visuals, I'm still wondering what the hell I just watched. Kept asking myself if I was on an acid trip.

However, I will be quoting it for a long, long time. "I only work in black... and sometimes, very, very dark grey."

Well, I should clarify we didn't search for it on TV. We know how rare it is and have gone through that entire process of obtaining it. We searched for the DVD we burned from a pirated version. Unfortunately it was misplaced, and although it's still on the computer we couldn't find the HDMI adapter for the TV so we just said screw it and played some cribbage.

If anyone ever wants to trip balls, watch the Lego Movie. That's really all you need, and it's legal. :D

Such an AWESOME movie, because of all the AWESOME stuff in it. It's so AWESOME.

Even though it took place during Thanksgiving I prefer Planes, Trains and Automobiles for a year-end seasonal watch followed by A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation. My kids love A Christmas Story (partially because they swear my grade-school photos make me a dead ringer for Ralphie) but Home Alone is a must if they are around.

The wife and I always watch The Muppets Christmas Carol before Christmas.
