The Michigan OT Goal

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

and neither was Brett Hull`s in game 6 vs buffalo in game 6 of the 99 cup finals.(under the rules of the day) but it still counted nonetheless

So now you're saying that the goal wasn't a goal? Thirteen pages of telling the world that it WAS a goal, now you say that it's not a goal, but it counted so it's still a goal? My head hurts...

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

I thought it got them a date with CC (and escaped with a narrow win and a trip to the Frozen 4) NoDak may very well win in a blowout, or maybe it will be part 3 of a 4 part march to the championship. In either way, You are paying disrespect to CC TO THINK THAT michigan got a bye in the 2nd round after eliminatIng U.N.O.

should I have used more :ps?

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

I havent spend the last 13 pages posting links and trying to convince others about the call (others have done a far better job on that than I could)

In fact I don't think I've ever weighed in on the subject, but I'm a Michigan fan, I'll admit I'm biased.

All I'm saying that if the ref called it a goal, it was a goal.
above thread edited (one word changed)

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

actually, when it comes to matters pertaining to hockey (on-ice) I do go by what the refs say; It's called respecting authority. You may not always like it, but you should respect that it's their decision to make. I like to stay above the fray of all the name calling ......

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

This is all pretty funny stuff, but I have to agree with Lincolnmav here. Are there people still *****ing on other fan websites? Probably. But on this thread, the only people still talking about whether it was a goal or not, are NOT Mav fans. We've moved on...time all of you did too.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

Oh, and billmich - I do agree that you have stayed above the name calling - which is more than some can say on either side. I would like to say I'm in the same boat. I don't believe this is all the U!N!O! fans will be talking about all summer. A couple reasons: the incoming recruits are going to make this upcoming season fun to watch, and since we have joined the WCHA, Michigan, Michigan State, etc., etc., are an afterthought. It happened to be that we ended up with Michigan in the NCAAs, and it happened to come down to a controversial call (which, admittedly UMICH, they got right in the end - so please post another youtube video to prove it :) ). The dislike that I have for Michigan (and truly it comes down to two things - a) you're a better program. Period. b) the Michigan "fans" in Omaha that come out of the woodwork for our home games are flat out annoying) has really gone away. Absence makes the heart grow fonder? I just think playing in the WCHA has ended much of that animosity. Now, is that true for all UNO fans, or even the majority, probably not.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

all i want to add is that at yost, uno kikcked butt on friday (worst of our 2 home losses) and we returned the favor on saturday. My respect for your coach is as high (along with Jeff Jackson and jerry york) as any coach we face...he is also a supremely class act.

one other thing to add...there have always been more michigan fans that TRAVEL to Omaha, than vice versa. and i have always enjoyed meeting the mav fans that traveled to Joe Louis, but was dissapointed that they numbered so few. Yes im talking about the years you guys actually made it there, unfortunately, only 3 times

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

For sure more Michigan fans travel to Omaha (although I know many of the fans at those games are from Omaha because they're toting their Charles Woodson jerseys - similar to many Omahans that make it out for the annual "sell out game" that have their Ahman Green jerseys on) than vice versa. And I'm sure that the reason you didn't run into many U!N!O! fans at The Joe was because of the distance factor. It didn't help that we were way the hell down south. On a side/different note, any ideas on how many years Red has left? Will he be around longer than Blais?

If you believe the following article, at least two more years (the amount of time he has left on his contract)

http://annarbor.com/sports/michigan-hockey-coach-red-berenson-isnt-thinking-about-retirement/

I thought he was going to retire after winning the National Championship in 1998, so that shows what I know.

I am part of the problem, bumping this thread back up. Note, I am not talking about the end of the game against UNO.................................

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

Really? Not on Mavpuck? I'm sure it will come up again. Over and over and over and over...with undertones about being screwed, cheaters, favoritism, "what if "scenarios etc. I've been around too long to know how it goes over there. Oh, and if Michigan loses, there will be the "karma" theme, etc. etc also. There isn't a more sour fan base around when it comes to the Wolverines, so I'd just can it.

Yes really. Last time I can find a UNO fan commenting about it on here or Mavpuck is March 29th. We put it to bed 8 days ago but yet this thread still lives on. As for the rest of you, get over the whining about being called weasels. Youve been weasels since the beginning. This is nothing new. Would you like me to capitalize it from now on to match your overinflated egos?

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

billmich - I don't see myself replacing MavRick on your list anytime soon. He analyzes things very logically and keeps his emotions in check. I always enjoy reading his stuff. I can't do that initially, but later on my emotions calm and logic takes place. Bluevox - just read your signature line - the first one is a great freakin' line. Well done!

Hey Dip-****, looks like you came on here to specifically claim that you are over it when obviously you are not. Then you go off on a tangent and try to rationalize your insulting behavior. And you wonder why you are a Husker-reject!

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

billmich - you stated in an earlier post that you would like to see this thread continue as a thread discussing controversies, half joking I'm sure. Any other controversies worth discussing?
