Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Is that Ontario trip still happening? I've heard nothing about it and it's not on any schedules (CCHA, LSSU'S). I think it might of got canceled.

It's still a go.

The reason you don't hear much about it is because it was a relatively last-minute thing. There was no way Jim and Co were not going to get the players into some type of game action for five weeks, which would have been the case had they not scheduled those exhibition games in southern Ontario over Christmas break. The Lakers bye week just so happened to coincide with the start of the Christmas break the following week. And with the team not in a New Years tournament, it was imply too much time off.

The NCAA allows teams to make this type of trip around southern Ontario universities every so often (every four years, I believe). Jim had that card to play this year, and played it.

I remember the Lakers doing something similar a few years ago. It was a holiday tournament up in Thunder Bay, although I think they only played three games that time.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Will the Lakers play Michigan two or four times next year? How does this stupid CCHA grouping work and how it rotates?

Anyone going to any of the games at Yost this weekend? I plan on going Saturday, hope the Lakers don't disappoint.

Michigan is in a grouping w/ MSU. They are clustered with Ferris and Alaska this year. This will be the only meetings between the teams in the regular season. Teams play the other three teams in their cluster four times, everyone else twice. I do not know what the cluster will be next season (2011-12). No determination if another team will be brought into the CCHA that may change that structure.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

I just got done listening to the pod cast for the radio show and it was mentioned that K2 will get the start on friday. Roque also mentioned that 2 D-men and 2 forwards will sign and it should be anounced some time early next week through the SID. He also mentioned the recruit that was here last weekend (what a weekend to visit)has a visit with another school so if he does sign it may be in the spring. I think Ravn will get a couple games in the canadian trip, it is a far cry from a couple years ago when neither goalie seemed to push the other.

I think the 4th recruit that the coaches are expecting will sign is a D-man from the USHL, so that should make a lot of fans happy. I also think he is supposed to be a good sized kid. Roque had previously mentioned that they had 2 F and 1 D lined up for the early signing period that is now underway.

Looks like Quad City is in 8th place in its 9-team division.

I want to laugh at this. I really do. But the team I grew up cheering for (the Komets) are in last place in that same division. Which stinks. Because they had been doing really really good (winning multiple championships) the past several years...albeit in a smaller league. I'm hoping they are just off to a rough start and will turn the ship around.

When the Lakers finish last this year the simpletons on this board will be begging for Frank back. In fact if the brain dead administration didn't get rid of Frank the second time the Lakers would have been back to the NCAA's and relevancy. Instead we got Bozo the Clown. Pitiful! Frank is the heart and soul of Laker Hockey. Roque is the toilet bowl of Laker Hockey. Take your pick.

Interestingly enough, after playing the majority of the his first three seasons despite minimal production, it appears that Roque has finally soured on the idea of Tyson Hobbins seeing regular ice time...he has played only 1 game this season, less than any other player that has seen the ice for the Lakers...although i agree with this decision it is very interesting tha Jim waited till Hobbins 4th year to cut his playing time.

Hobbins has a hip flexor injury. He may be back playing soon.

It looks like "Coach" had the boys prepared for this one, eh. After beating an over rated Ferris team that can't score, the intellectually challenged posters on this board were all fired up. You would have thought the Lakers were going to the NCAA tournament and Kapalka was a lock for the Hobey. Well the Lakers will be back on track after this weekend. Back on track for a patented Jim Roque 10th place finish!!!

You were pretty quiet last weekend, TruthSquad. I didn't read anything from posters predicting any points out of the Lakers this weekend.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

We just need some more puck luck and superior stick handling skills.

We get better every game and this isn't going to be a last place team and you can't blame anything on the coach.

We are just snake bit down there.

College hockey isn't what it used to be and it's hard for the little schools like us, Alaska, and others to compete.

We will bounce back and come out to play tonight.
