The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1-#59

They didn't fall lower than #18, since #19 has been posted and UNH hasn't shown up yet. And they probably didn't move up given their season. So I'm betting UNH is still #18.

Oh, yeah, good point; I misread PC as 20th. Yup, 18th it is again then, as no way any team could earn enough negative points to fall below them; negative points appear difficult to be assessed no matter how bad a team.

#18 – NEW HAMPSHIRE WILDCATS

Points: 88.13854 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 0.5990 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 7.89384 Points
Last Season Ranking: #18

The Wildcats had a down season in ’15-’16 with a record of 11-20-6, their first losing season since ‘11-’12. They bring back quite a bit of experience but will need to improve in nearly all statistical categories to get back on the winning track, and replace the team and HEA leading scorer who went pro after his sophomore season.

#17 – RPI ENGINEERS

Points: 101.35258 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 0.3983 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 2.59268 Points
Last Season Ranking: #17

After two disappointing seasons (12-26-3 and 15-16-6), the Engineers got back on track in ’15-’16, finishing 18-15-7. To build on last season’s record, they will need to replace their all-time career leader in GAA, and improve on a weak 12.3% PP.

#16 – UMD BULLDOGS

Points: 116.71721 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 2.1892 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 11.30890 Points
Last Season Ranking: #16

The ’15-’16 season ended for the Bulldogs with a 19-16-5 record and a loss in the Northeast Regional. They return a veteran team but lost their leading goal scorer from last season and their sophomore goalie who posted a school all-time best GAA of 1.92.

#15 – CLARKSON GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Points: 129.29024 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 0.1761 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 5.13444 Points
Last Season Ranking: #15

Consistency has not been Clarkson’s strong suit the past few seasons, with alternating 20 win seasons (2) with 20 loss seasons (2). The Golden Knights will need to improve on their road record from last year (5-11-1) to make the 20 win mark again.

#14 – HARVARD CRIMSON

Points: 134.60950 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 2.5233 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 15.71300 Points
Last Season Ranking: #14

After two straight losing seasons the Crimson got back on track in ’14-’15 with a record of 21-13-3 and followed it up in ’15-’16 with a 19-11-4 record, and a tie with Ylae for the Ivy League championship. They look poised to repeat last year’s success with a veteran team returning this season.

#13 – COLORADO COLLEGE TIGERS

Points: 146.98737 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 -0.7476 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: -1.15362 Points
Last Season Ranking: #13

After a great stretch of 19 seasons without a losing season, the Tigers have four consecutive losing seasons and only 19 wins in the last three seasons. They will have a challenge getting back to a winning year with only nine upper classmen and ten freshmen.

#12 – LAKE SUPERIOR LAKERS

Points: 154.52204 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 -0.0076 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 0.58134 Points
Last Season Ranking: #12

The Lakers have eight losing seasons in their last nine, but a coaching change in the ’14-’15 season has fans optimistic that a return to a winning program is going to happen soon. Last season saw the team win six more games than the previous season and across-the-board improvement in nearly all areas. And they return 20 players from last season.

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1-#59

Keep 'em coming. It'd be nice to kill this before Labor Day. This has gone on plenty long enough already. Who do you think you are? FS?? ;)

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1-#59

Tough crowd is right.:) I am trying to get to about #5 before I leave on an extended trip and will turn it over to FS to finish up.

#11 – CORNELL BIG RED

Points: 158.84642 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 -0.0436 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 6.20442 Points
Last Season Ranking: #11

The Big Red had 13 consecutive winning seasons from ’99-’00 to ’11-’12, but have alternated winning and losing seasons since 2012. They look to be in good shape to have another winning season with sixteen letter winners returning to this year’s team and nine of their last thirteen games at home.

#10 – MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES

Points: 166.27069 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 3.8830 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 5.14339 Points
Last Season Ranking: #10

The resurgence of the Huskies resulted in the team’s first trip (in 2015) to the national tournament in 34 years, and a share of the MacNaughton cup in 2016 for the first time since 1976. They have a veteran team, with 20 players returning. But they have a tough schedule with six of their first eight games on the road, and all of their non-conference games on the road.

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1-#59

#9 – MAINE BLACK BEARS

Points: 174.15123 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 -1.2962 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 5.22483 Points
Last Season Ranking: #9

The program has been in a tailspin since their last trip to the national tournament in 2012, with three losing seasons including last year’s 8-24-6 record. While the Black Bears lost every statistical category (except shorties) last year, the most telling were goals scored (2.0) and goals allowed (3.4). They will need immediate contributions from their ten freshmen to avoid another losing season.
