The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

All tickets have been sold. The fire marshall will only allow 2,200 into the building. Norwich students will be admitted in as always without a ticket.

Middlebury Game Officially Sold Out

Prez is this the first time a regular season game has been sold out at Kreitzberg? I can not remember a sell out and thought the capacity was 2,500+-. If this game is sold out you know the Castleton game next weekend will be a sell out with there maxium capacity of only 1,000+- and Norwich/Castleton being so close in the ECAC E race.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

Hey Prez: they have never turned anyone away at the door since the BURG opened it,s doors, not even for the NCAA FROZEN 4 (3 years) They where 4 deep at the rails what a great time that was.:):) They just fudged the numbers a LITTLE.:D:D:D

The building has the egress capacity for roughly 5000, but that's for special events w/ the ice covered/removed, and the ice-level means of egress included (through the zamboni area and the locker room corridors). My guess is the fire marshall never calculated the egress capacity during ice events, until their latest round of inspections. OR, the addition of Doyle Hall reduced the egress capacity, though I'm quite certain that's considered a separate building for fire containment purposes. Either way, it's too bad that we won't see 3k in there for a hockey game again. :(

I'm well aware of this and it was discussed at length today amongst the office. However, trust me, the game is sold out and tickets will not be sold at the door tomorrow. Only NU students will be allowed in without a ticket.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

The arena is being managed by a different entity on campus then used to be the case, and they do not have a "hockey background". I don't believe you will ever see a game with more spectators than the capacity again.

That's a shame, it really used to rock when it was packed, and the pep band played. Do you still have a pep band?

Bill Lyon retired (or if you believe the scuttlebut was pushed out by the Town Manager) so somebody else would have done the inspection

Yeah, I heard he got ousted....I've heard a lot about the town manager through the gossip stream that is V&M.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

Well I sure hope I see somebody in my seats. I donated them back to the BLC/University and have yet to see anybody sitting there,(right behind the Norwich bench).

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

Well Prez, If the burg is going to have alot of Sold out games in the years to come then I guess we should start thinking about putting in the upper concourse ontop of those I-Beams above the existing concourse. You do know they where designed for a future concourse. Just ask Harrold Mayhew.;);) I,m willing to say that Bowdin,s rink has them in there also,as he was the designer there too.

I have heard that rumor a couple times. ;)

Let's break ground tomorrow. Right after we get the money Sabine and a new science building.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

Really alot of fun watching the game tonight.Kyle was on top of his game tonight, with the hat trick. He also set up three good plays for other teammates but they could not finish it off.It was nice for me to give my hat to the ice gods, then go buy a new one with 2000,2003 and 2010 on it.:cool:. The white out was great with all the students there and the true fans coming in white. But there as I look around with all the white abound I see Hawk wearing a BLUE JACKET with a BLUE HAT on. So Hawk is a plant after all reporting back to WILLIE C. Hawk WHY O WHY did you not throw your Blue hat onto the ice like a true Norwich fan:D:D:D. does that Blue jacket reverse inside out to Green for next weekend.:rolleyes:

WPTZ had highlights. Didn't show the puck drop, but did show some goals for both sides.

It was a good game - two goals at my end directly due to Midd having a hanger back on the blue line that Norwich did not cover very well. Gave them odd man rushes several times.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

I was not happy with the events that led up to the Norwich 3rd goal, but to add insult to injury a student behind the Middlebury section dusted us with the contents of a box of baking soda! Pretty low class behavior if you ask me.

Re: The GAME 2011-Counting for the very last time

The penalty on Drolet call was very legit. It happened right in front of me. It was just plain nasty. I thought at the time that it was going to be another 5 minute call.

As for the baking soda, I have to apologize that's not the way we usually treat guests at Kreitzberg. I noticed some student were really embracing the whiteout thing, covering their faces with baking soda, and I expect exuberance got out of hand
