Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

You're going home from Brazil!
You're going home from Brazil!
You're going home!
You're going home!
You're going home from Brazil!

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I was questioning the penalty call but then saw it was Rafa Marquez and immediately laughed.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

6 straight Round of 16 losses.
Ha

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

@RyanRosenblatt: Graham Zusi putting Mexico in the World Cup was just a glorious long play to make Rafa Marquez the goat in the World Cup one more time

This is Brazil, not Azteca.

ya but a pro mexico crowd and i don't know about you but i wouldn't want herrera coming at me!

even then, still think the dutch were the better team in 2nd half and could have been given legit penalty in first half

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

You know, with all the sympathy for Mexico right now, it might a good time to have "Alexi and Kasey's Storytime". Let these people know why you should be laughing.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

The temperature for that game was 97 degrees.
The forecast for tomorrow in Qatar is a brisk 113. July 4th is forecast for 115.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

what the f is this announcer talking about

These are the Mexican announcers. Ever since ESPN bought the rights to Mexican home games for USA tv they've been doing their games. In the games I've seen they've been pretty impartial, and in the Bosnia game they were almost pro-Bosnia with how bad Mexico was playing. But ever since the Brazil game they've become worse and worse. The play-by-play guy still seemed neutral but the color guy was terrible at it today.

The color guy is Venezuelan.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

for that comment i was referring to when the announcer said chicharito might put on the gloves instead of ochoa ahead of the huntelaar penalty

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I know I should've been completely pro-CONCACAF today, since both teams winning guarantees a CONCACAF team in the semis, but the way Mexico lost was awesome.

I will be rooting for Costa Rica without any reservations.

Agreed all around. I would have been happy with a Mexican win, but if they had to lose, that was a pretty perfect gut wrenching exit for them. Only thing that could have been better is if the penalty had not been controversial, so we wouldn't have to hear so much whining for the next 4 (8? indefinite?) years....

I don't know what in the heck CONCACAF is, or care, and I was in Athens in March and went to a Panathinaikos game in Athens. Their goalie is one of the backups on the Greece team. So, Go Greece!
