The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

ESPN is out because of the bottom line.

If you don't know Spanish, watch on Univision and then don't watch any pregame, halftime, or postgame coverage. They have no bottom line but will mention it in the broadcast so the language barrier is really your only hope.

Yes but I have to believe they will flash the score at some point.

Except for Brazil-Croatia I've been watching on Univision and I don't recall them flashing the score at any point. I guess I could've missed it. But really it's such a long shot to not find out from ANYWHERE that I wouldn't put in the effort in not trying to find out.

I'm going to miss at least the first half of USA tonight, possibly the entire game.

Sadly, until I see the U.S. do it, I'm taking Ghana. They've had our number and they've got more speed to trouble our shaky back line. I see not getting a point as a real possibility.

GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS!!! GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS!!!! GUESS! WHAT! DAY! IT! IS!!! :D

So I think I'm gonna venture up into Chicago for the match today...

USA Soccer has a viewing party in Grant Park... Big projections screen, giveaways, and whatnot... Seems like it would be a fun time...

There are also two US OUTLAWS bars downtown that seem like they would be fun to check out... Those are indoors, have better access to beer, and probably more dedicated fans.. SMALL BAR has also been featured for "crowd shots" during broadcasts... Seems like a good time, although I would guess that I would have to show up around the start of the Iran/Nigeria match to get a decent seat.... The other bar is Rockit Bar... Never been to either, but both are affiliated with the Outlaws, so I'm sure it will be a good time...

Not getting a point is always a possibility. IE: Uruguay vs. Costa Rica..

However, ever since the groups were announced the US has had a 150% concentration on Ghana and Ghana only. They know how important this match is. Can we get 3 points? I think so. Can we tie, most certainly...can we lose? definitely.

This is a make or break game for us. 3 points is pretty much necessary to have any shot of advancing.

I seem to remember a driving rain in Honduras or Costa Rica.

Any chance we can turn it into snow? We have good experience with that! :D

Doubtful, and I doubt we could get them to move the game to a pitch somewhere up in the Andes.
