The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Got to watch a good chunk of that game at lunch. Bizarre refereeing again. Some of those yellow cards were just silly.

Which game? There was only 1 card in mex-cam that I can recall.

I'm fine with more cards than less in the WC. Keep players more honest.

Meh, I'm not on board with this. Give yellows when obvious, otherwise play it safe. Even more irritating to me is that yellows aren't wiped out until after the QFs. That's simply ridiculous IMO. They should be wiped out after the group stage.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

FIFA just told the refs to screw up a few calls in the early games so it won't be quite as obvious when they screw over America...again.

Huge save for Casillas.

I know, JF_G. Why aren't the Dutch wearing orange?

What I don't understand is, the announcers said FIFA requested that the Dutch wear blue. So at that point I though ok that must mean Spain is wearing red...nope. Who the heck knows.

And England.

I'm taking wagers on how the Brits get screwed over. Will it be goal that should've counted is disallowed? Goal that should not have counted is allowed? Quick red card? Penalty controversy? So many ways to go with this.

I'm ok with England getting screwed over. Makes me laugh.

See my previous post about how FIFA hates it when England wins. Anything that makes FIFA unhappy makes me happy. If they ever won, Blatter would probably sob at handing them a trophy.

That penalty call was harsh. Costa makes Crosby seem like a real man.

For my thoughts on that penalty, I'll quote the Univision color guy:

"Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cerca."

What's the payout on Quick Red Card to Rooney?

I like how ESPN (or whoever is in charge) keeps using the goal line technology to show that all the goals have in fact been goals, even though it has been completely unnecessary thus far.

Kinda seemed like Costa was slipping. I'm not sure he did anything to embellish.
