The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Don't you think it's time for this childish crusade to stop?

No - it's a trademark rant of mine. Furthermore, Adrian can't be a Western team - they're in the Eastern time zone :)

Relax it's all in fun.

I should also add that ECAC West makes no sense - how can something be both West and East because, after all, ECAC stands for Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Just like the NE -10 shouldn't be 10 and the Big 10 shouldn't be 10, either

At least the PAC 10 and Big 12 can actually count

They're still <b>west</b> of the eastern region teams.

I also don't see you complaining that the ecac-west is named as such. :)

I was editing my comment even as you posted. Great minds think alike :)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Don't bloat Scott's head anymore than it already is.;)
I've only gone up two hat sizes this season, shut it. ;)

The Big 10 does have a figure-ground 11 built into their logo at least, which is rather neat.

That would be the Big Televen to you, sir ;) Denote the hidden "11" in white surrounding the "T" in the logo. Should the conference's expansion plans come to fruition, I think they're out of luck trying to hide a 12 or 14 in there.

Or they'll be like the Atlantic 10, who has 14 teams for basketball (at least they used to).

Awww, you're like the Reverse Grinch...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

You understood what he said???

Jeez, Jer..what's the problem here...that was very clear and fluent Webbanese...and I've been in Brunswick (ME) at Joshua's tavern all night eating fish chowder and chugging Newcastle drafts...:D

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Naw...it's easy Hammer...just thumb through the trusty Funk and Wagnall's English<-->Webbanese dictionary:

Example - Page 231:

Webbanese: Based on their entire body of work this season relative to the other teams in contention, River Falls must beat St. Norbert to make the NCAA tournament. It's as simple as that.

Translates to -

English: Just win, baby!

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

It has been rumored that at the conclusion of today's MASCAC final, they will play the theme from Rocky at which time the winning team will shout out "ADRIAN!!!!

But back to more meaningful pursuits:

Based on the Carey Rankings (soon to join the HOF along with the WebbMap) we have:
1. Norwich
2. Oswego
3. St. Norbert
4. Middlebury
5. Plattsburgh
6. Gustavus Adolphus
7. Bowdoin
<strike>8. St. Scholastica
9. Hamline
10. Amherst</strike>
(11. River Falls)
---------
St. Thomas
MCHA
ECAC-NE
Pool B

Even if Gotteramdung happens, Plattsburgh is safely in.

Just for giggles, somebody please work out a 9E/2W bracket. Assume in this OMG scenario that Adrian, Hamilton, and Babson are in and GAC and Bowdoin are out.

Plattsburgh is not safely in. If they lose along with losses by Norwich, SNC and Midd, they could easily be out.

9-2 is impossible. There are three AQ's in the west.

Sadly, I knew what he meant (send Adrian east), which gives you...

Opening Round

W3 Adrian at E5 Elmira
E8 NE winner at E4 Plattsburgh
E7 Babson at E6 Hamilton

Quarterfinals

E8/E4 at E3 Middlebury
W3/E2 at E2 Oswego
E7/E6 at E1 Norwich
W2 St. Thomas at W1 St. Norbert

Also re: the "Carey Rankings" - take that ranking of GAC ahead of Bowdoin *very* lightly. With Bowdoin in the finals now, secondary criteria are likely pushing them ahead of the Gusties.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

What, did Hamilton pre-emptively forfeit or something?

I'm a moron. If they make it. Somewhere in my brain I thought it happened last night. I'll leave the original post unedited so people can laugh at what happens when I post at 10 am after working for six hours on a Saturday morning.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Yeah, I'm at work on 3-4 hours of sleep myself. Trying to avoid postig much before I say something either ridiculous or blatantly wrong, heh.

I'd put money on bowdoin winning anyway, but they have been known to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory before.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Here is another bracket projection where the NCAA could have a max of 2 flights and a minimum of 1 flight for the entire tournament.

East
Norwich
Oswego
Middlebury
Plattsburgh
Bowdoin
Elmira
Curry

West
St. Norbert
GAC
St. Thomas
Adrian

NCAA Play ins
Adrian @ St. Norbert
St. Thomas @ GAC
Curry @ Elmira

NCAA Quarterfinals
UST/GAC vs. Adrian/SNC
Bowdoin @ Oswego
Curry/Elmira @ Norwich
Plattsburgh @ Middlebury

Which would set up a potential FF of

GAC/St. Norbert vs. Bowdoin/Oswego
PSU/Midd vs. Elmira/Norwich

AKA the Webb's head explodes bracket projection. (I just love that image)
