Lerch's Blog

Chris has 8-3, 7-4 and 6-5 scenarios in his blog from Friday none of which has Adrian coming East

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

My other (better??) half thinks that we should have Marion vs. J and W meet on Lake Erie. Is that a helpful suggestion?

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Williams is out for sure as they are not even skating and Amherst it appears is out as well. Amherst was one game away from making it and Williams was one coach away.

Hope Middlebury and Bowdoin do the league proud. It will be a great final and both teams deserve to advance to the invitaional.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Okay, so we've got M'ville winning the ECAC-West and a committee that likes giving that conference's winner a Pool B, we have an Adrian team that can't play more than one game without flying (generally) and we have no idea what the east-west split will be.

Screw it, I'm done projecting. See you all tomorrow night.

I suggest everyone just post the craziest possible brackets for the next 24 hours.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

How does this look

1. Oswego
2. Norwich
3. St. Norbert
4. Middlebury
5. Plattsburgh
6. Gustavus Adolphus
7. Bowdoin
<strike>8. St. Scholastica
9. Hamline
10. Amherst
(11. River Falls)</strike>
---------
St. Thomas
Adrian
Curry
Manhattanville or Salem St.
(the ECAC-W should send a bouquet to the MASCAC. Without them, nobody from the ECAC-W makes the tournament (they still may not, but it is long odds for SSC to skate next week)).

======
West:
Adrian @ St. Norbert
St. Thomas @ Gustavus

East
1. Oswego
2. Norwich hosts Curry
3. Middlebury hosts Pool B
4. Bowdoin plays Plattsburgh somewhere

Semis
Oswego bracket plays Gutavus bracket
Norwich bracket plays St. Norbert bracket

How do you see Oswego jumping over Norwich - I'm not saying it won't happen, but why would the committee justify switching them? On Tuesday, Norwich was 1E and Oswego was 2E. In a way, I don't mind - it means two more games at Krietzberg, but shouldn't Oswego host somebody in a first rounder?

YEAH, you TELL 'em Prof.......;)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Here is my stab at it before looking at the updated numbers...

NCAA Field
1- Oswego (bye)
2- Norwich (bye)
3- St. Norbert
4- Middlebury (bye)
5- Plattsburgh (bye)
6- Bowdoin (bye)
7- Gustavus Adolphus
8- Manhattanville
9- Adrian
10- St. Thomas
11- Curry

Play-ins
Curry @ Manhattanville
Adrian @ St. Norbert
St. Thomas @ Gustavus Adolphus

NCAA Quarterfinals
Curry/Manhattanville @ Oswego
Bowdoin @ Norwich
Plattsburgh @ Middlebury
UST/GAC winner vs. Adrian/SNC winner (highest remaining seed hosts)

Now, once the results have been entered, we shall see if my projections change at all.

After the man-handling in Oswego tonight, with beating the same high-ranked team 3 times, versus Cadets mowing through 3 teams for their title. I couldn't speculate sir, cause it's up to those guys in the "smoke-filled room" tomorrow. However, from this end of NY, I believe the Lakers have made their fair case for hosting just one, as I'm sure your Cadets have made theirs.

Tomorrow will be extremely interesting to see who gets a "Quarter Final Present" from the NCAA:cool:

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

4- Middlebury (bye)
5- Plattsburgh (bye)
6- Bowdoin (bye)

.......doubtful !

So you think it is more likely they reward the lowest ranked teams and make the majority of the higher ranked teams play in a play-in? Something like this?

NCAA Field
1- Oswego (bye)
2- Norwich
3- St. Norbert (bye)
4- Middlebury
5- Plattsburgh
6- Bowdoin
7- Gustavus Adolphus (bye)
8- Manhattanville
9- Adrian (bye)
10- St. Thomas (bye)
11- Curry

Play-ins
Curry @ Norwich
Manhattanville @ Middlebury
Bowdoin @ Plattsburgh

NCAA Quarterfinals
Adrian @ St. Norbert
St. Thomas @ Gustavus Adolphus
Bowdoin/Plattsburgh winner @ Oswego
Manhattanville/Middlebury winner @ Curry/Norwich

That seems a lot more ridiculous than my previous projection, doesn't it?
