The Dead Thread 2024

There are no deaths at 82 that are unexpected
Funny I had the same thought when read that post, however it's a bit loaded of an observation. My father is 87 and as you saw in another post of mine (and were the only one here to kindly acknowledge) was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. Until that time he'd been one of the healthiest people I've never known and has never had any ongoing medications in his life. When he goes now it won't be unexpected, but had he up and died before any of this became known it would have been somewhat unexpected simply because of everything we knew about him.

I remember two things about music above all from middle school days in the late 70s:

1) KISS is gay!
2) Queen is gay!*

It has always amused me that these two nearly universally reviled acts from my 7th grade wound up somehow as Éminence grise.

If you were a basic bitch you listened to the Beatles and top 40. If you were a motorhead you listened to Sabbath, BOC, and... Motorhead. If you were a rocker you listened to the Stones, the Who, and Aerosmith. If you were a musician you listened to Yes, Genesis, ELP, and Rush**. If you were hopelessly weird you listened to Zappa, Bowie, and Tull.

And if you were a gay boy try-hard you listened to KISS. It was everybody's annoying kid brother's fake band.

* We didn't even know.
** This was before Rush went Nick Land incel.

🫣🤔😁

Mookie watched mayor of Kingstown this week (as in started with season 1, episode 1 and worked his way up to now waiting for the next new one to drop😡).
Love stuff like this. Assholes being taken care of works in the grand scheme of things. But there is always the next dude ready to step up and run things 💁🏾

They think he died, but the tests are inconclusive...
