The Dead Thread 2024

Thanks to everyone for their messages. I didn't end up going to NYC. When leaving DC Metro, I fell on an escalator, dislocating a finger. and fracturing 2 bones. Eight hours later I got home. They said I could still go to NYC, but considering how much trouble I have with doing anything, a repeat accident was waiting to happen.

My brother passed away at 7:15 PM today from leukemia. :( He was diagnosed last March.

I won't be around here much in the near future.

Ralph, I just saw your post and the other about your injury. So sorry to hear about your brother, that is tough. Cancer sucks!

I wish you a speedy recovery on your injuries.

One of my favorite on screen lunch quotes was when David Duchovny played the cross dressing fbi agents and went by Denise.

Lynch’s character, in reference to those who didn’t accept Denise: “fix your hearts or die.”

I think a lot of people see Duchovny's Twin Peaks performance as Dennis/Denise to be pretty damn groundbreaking and validating for the Trans and Queer parts of LGBTQ in 1990-1991. Lynch wasn't one to shy away from pushing boundaries, so good on him.

Former Boston College basketball player Rick Kuhn died at the age of 69 in Pennsylvania on Dec. 22. Kuhn was part of the infamous Henry Hill (of “Goodfellas” fame) point-shaving scandal that involved BC during the 1978-79 season. Kuhn was sentenced to 10 years for his involvement and served 28 months.

I hope everyone reading this sees Mulholland Drive once in her or his life. It's great art that can also lasso in almost every ape. There are movies from the 20s, 30s, and 40s that can do that, but Lynch found the key one last time before it all turned to sh-t.

Nobody - absolutely nobody- could score a film or show quite like Angelo Badalamenti, which complemented Lynch’s work in a way I have a hard time describing
