I understand that, and it's a fair point.
But for something the rest of the world saw unfold and think, "holy hell, electing a bad president or prime minister is one thing, but permanently severing yourself from one of the three largest economies of the world is unfathomable" it's hard to wrap my head around it.
I stand by my statement that it's a failure on the part of labour. It's their job. You can do everything in your power sometimes and fail, but it's still a failure.

thry didn’t have a gov official like comey to tip the scales, but the lies that farage and others told were devastating. The nhs bus is the biggest one that came to mind, utterly shameful what they did to a nation who had been losing their pride in the nhs in the decade prior. Even Cameron didn’t want to leave but he’d committed to the election.
the far right was able to exploit all the immigration fears and I don’t think a young Tony Blair could have tipped it.
