Correct. It is mainly due to the days of two-game, total-goal series, when the winner of the second and last game could be the series loser. It was decided therefore just to transfer at the end of all multi-game series.

Only one alternate belt is left (D-II Play-up) and that could be around for years.
Obviously the league belts can't be contested in the first round, but conceivably another type (e.g., a state belt) could be.
