The College Hockey Championship Belt Part IV

Thanks for all the work you have put into this project over the years! I assume this is a manual, time consuming project. I wonder if there is a way to automate some of it now, with a program or macro? (Not volunteering your or me for that, just thinking out loud)

this is precisely what I was thinking.

Thanks.

There undoubtedly are ways to automate it. Whether someone wants to do that is a question.

I think automating it shouldn't be too terrible. The problem is going to be getting high quality, standardized format schedules and scores for all schools. I suspect I can run a simple scrape of one of the big sites (USCHO, chn, chs, etc) to pull that info.

after that it should be straightforward.

I have decided after several years of thinking about it to stop being the compiler of the Belts. It's become more of a chore for me than fun.

If anyone else is interested in doing this, I will gladly send the history file to them.

I'm sorry to hear this, but I understand. As a looooongtime mostly lingering occupant here I've always worked to locate this thread and I've always enjoyed it.

Thanks for keeping at it for so long. A gem of a record of college hockey.

An internet tip of the cap to you, Ralph.

Thanks to everyone who appreciated my work.

dxmnkd316, if you are still interested, I can send you my history file.

If anyone intends to continue this, this is what I compiled as the first defenses. Thee may be errors.

I use Google Sheet's IMPORTHTML to pull the CCHA composite (complete with scores) off of USCHO into my Pick 'Em analyzer. Here's the formula to pull the entire 2023-24 composite schedule:
Code:
=IMPORTHTML("https://www.uscho.com/scoreboard/division-i-men/2023-2024/composite-schedule/","table",1)
I bet if you tinker around a bit it'll give you what you want.
