The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

Unfortunately, I believe you're right. Their admission does not look likely...to me.

That can only mean one thing if no one to play UAH. Fold nah nah hay good bye

Wakeup CCHA and let UAH in. We dont need another wayne state and Findley. We need UNO's and Bemdji's

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

I cannot speak for Ferris, but LSSU is putting 5 million dollars into their facilities and BGSU has started a 9 million dollar campaign to upgrade there.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

I'm not bitter...now. But, if this whole thing fails, and by that I mean, 1) BTHC fails, loses money, collapses and the schools want back into their original conferences, 2) this decision leads to the dissolution of the CCHA or other leagues, or 3) several schools drop hockey as a result and the sport is worse off because of this. THEN I'll be bitter.

I'm hoping this will perhaps encourage more schools to consider D-I hockey but it's a wait and see.

So, trying to be optimistic but if this thing ends up doing more harm than good, that's when I'll be bitter. :)

It can go a few ways.... Either it is a complete and utter failure or it creates more teams, and the D-2 schools become more of the mid majors and still compete.

Either way, expect it harder to make the NCAAs as about 27% of the teams make it in. I dont see an expansion of the field of 16 anytime soon.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

WILX is reporting that Anastos is out as commish and in as head coach at Michigan State.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

INCH seems to have two different conformations on this according to their Twitter.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

Am I missing something? Everything I can see on INCH's feed says Anastos.

I meant they have two sources on this. INCH and WLIX are both reporting he is to be the new head coach. WLIX reported earlier on a different name...not really sure whats going on at this point. I guess its INCH, run by ESPN, therefore they dont know anything about hockey.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

EAST LANSING, Michigan - Former Alabama-Huntsville hockey coach Danton Cole, who led the Chargers in 2010 to their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, will reportedly become the next head coach of Michigan State's hockey program.

WILX-TV in Lansing, Mich., reports that Cole will be introduced this afternoon.

I don't know where you're getting this, but WILX is reporting that it's Anastos.

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

Jeremy Sampson of WLIX is reporting Anastos will be named head coach.
From his twitter: "#WILX has confirmed that former Spartan and current #CCHA commissioner Tom Anastos will be named as the next hockey coach at MSU"

INCH: "INCH has also confirmed that Tom Anastos will be the next head coach at Michigan State."

Re: The CCHA: Where do we go from here?

That's probably the answer.

You may be right. I was just going with what I saw earlier.

*shrug* Who knows, the Anastos connection works though. Former MSU kid, worked under Mason. Ties to the program, knows the CCHA and always had a hard-on for the Big10 teams.

WILX has now yanked that story.

That won't happen. Only way any team in the conference leaves will be of their own accord.

What? Not want to play Tech? What team doesn't like picking up four points at the expense of MTU once (or twice a season). Besides we've got the Cup so we're staying. Also to clarify an earlier post, we are content being in the WCHA, but we are not content being the first ever #12 in the WCHA. The word on the street is that we are close to inking a multi-year deal to bring Jacques Lemaire in to coach the team. We like what we've seen in NJ and want some of that in Houghton. Money is no object we are told so we're going to aim high.
I also have some land in FL for sale if anyone is interested...

I know tech is a charter member of the WCHA, owns the league cup, uncompetive in the WCHA, doesnt have coach and had four wins last season.

I just wonder how long it going to take for the other teams from Colorado, North Dokata, Minnesota and Nebraska going to say they dont want to travel to Houghton to play a medicore team. Both Alaska teams are going to face this in the near future too.
