The Brice is Nice (UA_ hosts Union, CC and UAA)

Re: The Brice is Nice (UA_ hosts Union, CC and UAA)

I still haven't seen it yet, but I hear the new glass is GREAT. I can't wait to see how much clearer it is. I also hear it's pretty big stuff.

I dropped by the Carlson today to check out the new dashers/glass, and to check out the practices.

The glass is tall and clean right now. Check out the seams.

Got a chance to see both Union and CC today. The Nooks better be ready to go tomorrow.

A few photos from the Union practice.

Good that it's tall. The short glass in was always a bit of a problem IMO.

There were some pretty nasty fan injuries and some amazing close calls with the short glass. I'm sure there are a couple of risk managers with smiling faces.

My wife just missed getting hit with a serious over-the-glass slapper. She still sustained injuries of a sort. She had head phones on and heard Drygas on the radio chime in that the errant shot almost hit "some old lady." :)...oops, I mean

GAMEDAY!!! GO SEAWOLVES, and good luck to all the other teams in the tourney (including Fairbanks).

Yeah safety is definitely part of that. Also the higher glass keeps the puck in play more, leading to a better game IMO.

Drink beer!! You know they (whoever that is) did a study a few years ago and found that Denver is the most drunk city in America (mostly due to my buddy CO14ers), with Anchorage #2 and Colorado Springs #3. And I am serious!

Just got to the 'Banks about an hour ago. I see the Alaska Marketplace signs still remain on the abandoned former grocery store, near "downtown". Saw a couple of "locals" making out, then hitting each other, in the parking lot from my hotel room window. Hopefully a good day for the Seawolves against a conference opponent on neutral/hostile ice. I have a feeling there will be very few UAA fans at the game this afternoon.

Fairbanks was disqualified from the competition only because "they" could not find a "control group" of non-drunks to make any statistical significant comparisons to "most drunk.":D

Sweet! I'm moving from the second most drunk city to the king of drunk cities...Looks like i'm moving up in the world!

Safer for fans, but the boards are alot stiffer which can be more dangerous to players. They took the cable that goes around the top of the glass off because it makes it even stiffer.

For those in Alaska, these games including the UAA vs. CC game--which is already at 3-2 with CC with the one goal advantage with a little bit of time left in the first--will be aired on GCI channel 1.

Dude... CC beat UAA like they stole something! Not really - it was a good close game.

At the MSU game last season a lady behind me got hit in the nose with a puck. It was a bloody scene.

Re: The Brice is Nice (UA_ hosts Union, CC and UAA)

It would be really appreciated if anyone who saw the UAF and Union game could comment on how Union looked. Impossible here back east to get any real feel for how the game went.
