Does he get the needle? Or does he get pardoned to life in prison?

Has there been an indication his sentence could be commuted by the President? Or is that idle speculation on your part?

Obama is a Kenyan Muslin with no regard for American jurisprudence...I expect Hasan will be pardoned and named Surgeon General.

I want the general in charge to change it to a life sentence. Hassan wants to die, that's made clear by the way he refused to actively defend himself in court. I want to deny him his wish.

Or is he just trying to pull a Brer' Rabbit - best way to avoid the death penalty is to ask for it?

Even considering that, assigning him the death penalty holds the potential for him to enter martyrdom. I'd still rather the man rot in prison.

So the death penalty is exacted on Hassan and he thinks he is about to enter the Islamist version of heaven. However, he meets the spirit of George Washington and gets punched in the nose. then the spirit of Thomas Jefferson punches him in the gut, followed by Patrick Henry who kicks him in the knee, and then he sees 69 other men and women in line behind them.

"What's going on?" he wails.

A booming voice replies, "These are the 72 Virginians you were promised. You knew this was coming and went ahead anyway, you fool; now reap the rewards of what you sowed!"

IMO we should be going through the UN on this Syria thing. Nothing but risks and costs by doing this ourselves.

IMO if what happened is so obviously bad we should let the UN handle it without us for a change instead of sticking our fat face into yet another waste of time and money.

And you know, maybe letting some other country be the world's policeman, so when it doesn't work out the way it's suppose to then the world can rag on someone else.


And based upon past history, I can't help but wonder if the "certainty" that Obama has that Syria has used chemical weapons is the same "certainity" that Bush had that Iraq had WMDs???

Ironically, these are probably the same WMDs in both cases....:(

You mean other than the fact Britain and France are pulling us along and practically begging us to get involved rather than us strong arming the Brits for their support like we did 10 years ago? Or the videos that have come out?

I don't think anyone disputes that chemical weapons were used. Whether it was Assad or not and whether our involvement would help or hurt the situation are entirely different questions.

The world knows this and will wait till we do so they can criticize it and breathe a sigh of relief that they didn't have to.

Yeah, coz that's what I advocated for.

What's your solution? The UN? They won't do anything. What's your plan B?


Inaction in the face of chemical weapons use is not a good foreign policy. Not to be hawkish, but is there a red line or not?
