The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

It's not an NCAA violation yet. The kid still has not signed a national letter of intent, so theoretically if he changed his mind again and decided to come to Maine, it would then be an NCAA violation. Funny that the NCAA has ~450 pages of rules, but nothing forbidding you from speaking about other schools' recruits. By talking about it publicly, Tim just assured that this kid can never go to Maine. Considering he chose Duluth for travel reasons it seems unlikely he was going to change his mind. Still, it would be better if Tim stuck to the "no comment" line.

Yea, honestly, he wasn't switching back to Maine again after committing to Duluth for wanting to stay close to home and kids changing their minds twice are VERY rare (Eddie Caron anyone?). So why not just answer the question? I don't think either answer is wrong but I personally appreciate him addressing the question rather than avoiding it.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Here's my opinion on why the ice is better at Sawyer. The air temperature is colder. The Alfond has to be warmer to accommodate basketball. For anyone who has been to Sawyer Arena they can vouch for how cold it is.

Sawyer is even colder than the Igloo at Merrimack use to be.:D Basketball belongs in The Pit, period.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Sawyer is fantastic ice...I know, I helped put the whole package together back around 1991 if my memory serves me right. Anyone know Angela Gilladoga and Roger Keim? Both eccentric yet driven people. We brought Sawyer to reality from nothing, at first it was just outdoor ice and we got a bubble put over it (used and it collapsed...lol) , then artificial ice. But the ice has always been nice and hard and fast there......oh the memories...my son wuz playing high school hawkey at the time and Maine wuz on fire in Hawkey East and the NCAA's. Good to heare da Bearz are getting good use of and enjoying that ice surface.;)

can you tell us what is was in particular that Tim has done to ensure that NO blue chippers come to Maine for the next couple years?
El nino? global warming?
the economy?

travel time my eye... Paul Kariya lived just West of this McNeely kid and the distance did not stop him from coming to work with Shawn and Grant.

This kid wants to make it to the show, he is going to commit to the best place to get him there, plain and simple.

Going to see Maine at The Mack next month. Is it really warmer there these days?We need to know how to pack. That used to be the coldest (indoor) rink I've ever shivered away a game through.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

You guys want to visit a cold rink go pay a visit to the Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer. The place has been deemed by most as the coldest rink in the state.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Not sure what you take from this game, Maine dominated the 2nd, Gustav was the best player on the ice, his assist to Pryor was a beauty. Sirman looked ok, moved around alot but stopped the puck. Campbell had a couple of glove saves that were unreal and I'd take Tindori from the US team. Once again a team runs our goalie and no payback from Maine

Too bad Maine couldn't sign # 22 Brandon Saad. That kid can fly out there. There hasn't been any payback from Maine since Prestin Ryan graduated. Timmay would rather have his goalies get hurt than put a stop to this crap now.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

one other thing, Maine is going to regret leaving 2 points at PC when the the season is over
