The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Basically unless Darling gets back to where he was before the BU series none of it's going to matter.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

You could tell after the game Gustav Nyquist was very upset on how the entire team played. I thought a key moment in the game was Lowell's first goal because seconds earlier Darling made that big save.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Maine was flat from start to finish. The D hasn't improved one bit this season and Darling isn't playing at the level he was. Very frustrating to watch guys stand around and watch, passes that are 3 feet behind and non stop icing

must be that Tim does not have the right guys to work his system on "improved defense over the course of the season" and his "non-icing system"

ya think that the boys realize that if the start tanking some games now, they will get a new head coach next season?

HOLY COW. Give it a rest. A team everyone expected to go nowhere, consisting almost entirely of freshmen and sophomores, is battling for the NCAA tournament. It's not like we are talking about Providence here.

Just enjoy the freaking games and get rid of that axe you have to grind.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Definately the worst game I have seen Maine play from start to finish this year. You have to give Lowell credit for taking advantage of a pizz poor Maine team but WOW we were terrible. Better figure things out before next weekend. Merrimack will destroy us if we play like that.

Very true. Merrimack will destroy us...sounds weird eh?:D

Or at least save it until the season is over.

However, I do agree that if Maine gets knocked out in the HE Q-finals, the pressure will be there to get rid of him.

They looked like they partied too hard the night before from the big win.

But if Gus stays and the new coach wins big will anybody be saying he's only taking advantage of Tim's recruits?

*Add* I think four straight years of no Garden is grounds to get rid of him. It'd be fair. But the table looks set for next year no matter who the coach is. We wouldn't know anything about the new coach's ability on his own until at least 2012-13.

Maines away record is 3-9-1. If we don't get home ice, we might as well get out the clubs.

He's still under contract, it isn't going to happen, get over it

If a new coach only took advantage of Tim's recruits they wouldn't win big. The new coach would have to do what Tim is lacking. Developing and motivating his players.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Their road record is what concerns me facing Merrimack this weekend.:(

That and Merrimacks home record is 11-2-0.

After next weekend Merrimack could be 1 pt behind Maine.

Come on Wally, these are the movers and shakers you're talking to. They can get Tim fired. All they have to do is call up their buddy in the president's office and he's gone. BTW, has anyone seen his VIPness lately? It's strange for him to be away for so long...and at this time of year, too...

They'll be lucky to get 2 points this weekend. I have them slated for 1, 0 wouldn't shock me. They'll have to secure home ice the final weekend against Zoo Mass.

it should concern you, this team isn't playing that well right now. They didn't play that great Friday and they played like suck on Saturday. My hope is the beating they took on Saturday makes them mad for Fridays game. MC is good but they aren't invincible.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Talking to folks that were there last night- they didn't think Maine played that badly last night. Listening to UML's radio guys they thought your team played well all weekend! Reading in here is a different story. Maybe you guys should listen to UML radio for a boost! They were impressed. :p

We can all discuss it here, but we are really wasting our time. Tim isn't going anywhere. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see his contract extended at the end of this season. Just my opinion.
