Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

He turned it completely around...a full 360. Or is Western that good?

I know you're too smart to believe what you're writing.

Maine is 5 games over .500. Notre Dame is one below. And this after 3 really successful seasons for Notre Dame, and 2 of the worst seasons in Maine's D1 history.

To claim that this season proves that the Whitehead skeptics were wrong -- and to do so by invoking comparisons to Jeff Jackson -- is just laughable. Glenn Beck on his best days can't achieve that level of self-delusion.

No doubt about it. Someone must be messing with his meds. Or he's just messing with you. Doesn't matter which.

Shocked that we haven't heard a peep about Dean Blais yet. Who would want coaches like that when you can have Timmay (feasting on the mediocrity of Hockey East this year).

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

No way! Next you'll tell me they just got swept by a bottom feeder.

You're awful.:D You need to be using icons in your writing. You know, like one of these  . You're getting these folks all worked up.;)

The point is good coaches can have bad seasons...Jackson this year, Parker in 2008, York last year, it's happened to Umile, it seems to be happening to Berenson right now and Lucia.

So now Whitehead's peak and valley is on its way back up. Can he stabalize and get back to what he was putting up from 02-07? It remains to be seen.

All we can say right now is it looks like the party line of no hockey east, no garden, no NCAAs and a new coach to start 2010-11 was in what you call Beck territory.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

A few scheduling tidbits for next season.......the Florida College Classic teams will include Miami and St. Cloud (with Cornell and Maine of course).....

http://www.floridaeverblades.com/fanzone/college/

Add to that 2 games at Michigan State and 2 home games with North Dakota (Oct.22 & 23) and Maine could have the toughest OOC schedule in the country next season. As of right now every team on the OOC schedule is in the NCAA Tourney!

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

I finally called for Tim's head myself, last year, and that was about his recruiting. The Orsini/Belmore/Randal class was a complete disaster, but I'm happy to been wrong about House.Still, that class was mostly awful, and it set Maine back a couple of years.

I am lucky enough to see a ton of college hockey.Got to say,I really don't see a lot of difference in the X's and O's from game to game. Most coaches make the same calls,it seems to me.They trap with the lead, and they forecheck more vigorously when trailing late.Same as anyone would do,if they played the percentages.

The talent is the difference, and Maine HAS some this year!I am inclined to credit Bob Corkum for that,at this point.Could be mere coincidence, but things were looking pretty bleak until he showed up.Draw your own conclusions. It's just nice to see the Bears in the mix again.

Goooooooooo
BLUE!

I'd like to be able to play those first 6 games on this years schedule again, suppose we might have a different outcome?

Best talent on the team (In my opinion):
Nyquist
Flynn
House
O'neil
Dee
Abbott
Darling

Pretty sure none of these guys were recruited by Bob Corkum. He may be responsible for Shemansky, and I'll give you that. But he isn't quite up to par with the players I listed IMO. He may be when he finds some wheels.

So where is the talent that we are giving Corkum all the credit for?

just a little, but you know, the younger guys might have benefitted more from the way they started... showed them very quickly the level of effort, commitment and discipline it takes to be successful at the DI level. that said, it would be nice to have at least split with Union and taken a point or two from the UMA-UNH weekend...

Get with the program! Any good players were recruited by Corkum, the bad players were recruited by Whitehead.

Hey Priceless....your schtick on here is getting a little tiring.......how about giving it a rest at least for a little while, eh? I realize Timmay's been bashed pretty hard on here in the past (some justified, some not), but chit thats what fanz do when they're not happy.

These "fans" weren't happy when the team was going to Frozen Fours. Timmay-bashers are given carte blanche to hit their coach over the head as often as they want, but anyone with the audacity to defend the coach should stifle themselves? That's balanced.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

FWIW, Maine the INCH rankings are out and Maine moved up two spots to 14.

Who's looking for balance? If the State of Maine pays me one hundred fifty thousand dollars a year more or less to do my job, I best be doing it properly. Based on on ice and off ice performance for the past coupla years, Timmay has not been doing his job for which he is well paid.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Get with the program! Any good players were recruited by Corkum, the bad players were recruited by Whitehead.

:D And even though Kerluke replaced Perron as head of recruiting and was the one who went to Sweden he gets neither credit or blame. The new saying among Tim bashers is Corkum recruits, coaches, and gets credit for wins. Tim gets blame on all losses. Dan simply stands on the bench and referees!

True story. I was told this weekend that one Timmay hater was so upset after Maine WON on Friday night that he did not go to the game Saturday! Can you imagine?? Wants Maine to lose so Tim can be fired! Man I don't know how Tim was able to insult all of these folks, now I know what he does in his spare time, calls houses and hangs-up, rings doorbells and makes a run for it in the middle of the night! Know wonder Corkum has to do everything Tim is too busy irritating the rest of you!:p
