The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

Unfortunately, everything I've seen suggests Dump is unlikely to be sentenced to jail in NY (just fines and other sanctions), so it's all down to GA.

Rich white (or orange) Americans don't go to jail for their first sentencing, short of perhaps murder.

Other than the trial that just concluded, where he was sued under a statute that didn't include imprisonment as a remedy/punishment, and the civil defamation trial where he also got hammered for money damages, is the only other NY case still out there the Stormy Daniels payoff case?

"You know that line you aren't supposed to cross when talking to the president?"
'I'm coming up on that now?'
"No, no, look behind you."

It isn't coming soon; there already are literal Nazis in the GOP. I met a few of them on Boston Common way back in 2017...

Isn't there some sage wisdom from all the way back in 2018 about voters (particularly conservatives) who feel isolated, dismissed, and powerless rejecting representative democracy instead of changing their views? ;-)

Here's the thing I've learned. It doesn't matter how much you belittle them, curse them, or grit your teeth, listen to and try to "understand" them. Most of them have no interest in learning anything new, considering any actual facts, or changing their opinions. They believe their precious gut feelings and "alternative facts" are just as good as your actual stats or data. Every once in awhile, you read about some former neo-Nazi who has repented and now spends their time trying to deprogram other neo-Nazis, usually with minimal success.

So as far as I'm concerned, it's not anyone's job or responsibility to try and change these people's minds, or compromise with them. All we can do is try to minimize the damage they are able to do, with proper messaging to people who aren't fascists, and by voting in greater numbers than they do.

100%

The only way to convert these people is to have something negatively affect them (Ex: Women having the lightbulb go off the moment healthcare was threatened).

There is no way to turn the masses in one move. But since the GOP wants to rule/control everyone, slowly the lightbulb will go off on those who don't want to be controlled. This is how we can peel people off. Focus on a single turning point and use it to drive the point home. Those are the people who will turn purple states blue over time.

Yeah...it was one thing back after 2016 wanting to understand made sense and trying to break their fever dream was a worthy endeavor. When they openly spit in our faces about it and then doubled down on the crazy...nah I am out.

We can only save the ones who want to be saved.

Billionaire Angela chao drowned this week in her Tesla. In a pond on her property.

Many of them call Turtle Boy an "Assistant Democrat" and believe he is compromised by his marriage to Elaine who supposedly reports to the CCP. So they're likely close to saying the exact, xenophobic, racist things they would say if it were a Dem.

Yet, Turtle Boy still bent the knee and endorsed the guy HE SAID should be prosecuted.
