I forgot, when did they announce the postponement last year? Seems like doing it the morning or afternoon of the game is really late for all involved. I know BU is open tomorrow as of now at least.

Agree that at this point, the show will go on

The lack of a suitable postponement date really complicates things. The only free non-weekend dates at the Garden are this Thursday, next Tuesday in the middle of that Disney thing, and then March 8. I suppose if they could convince Disney to deconstruct their set for the day off then put it back up, that would work. Otherwise, there's really no suitable option unless the teams agree to play Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Re: The 2016 Beanpot: The Sacred Quest for the Holy Grail of College Hockey in Bosto

Good morning! Wind is whipping already outside. Most outlets I have seen so far have backed a bit on the snow totals. Boston is on the edge of 5-8" and 8-12" on the latest NWS estimate. 5-8" on weatherunderground. Not going to be a pleasant day but I think we are going to be a go for the Beanpot.

ETA: Storm is over 400 miles away, a bit further out than thought. A massive storm though... look at this http://www.goes.noaa.gov/HURRLOOPS/huwvloop.html We are lucky this storm isn't closer!

ETA2: Heaviest snow - morning through early afternoon, possibly 1-2" per hour. Decreasing mid/late afternoon, periods of light snow tonight.

When Mookie was a kid we walked uphill both ways in the snow to play
Ah, but did you put Wonder Bread bags on your feet before you put your boots on? Keep those socks dry!

Re: The 2016 Beanpot: The Sacred Quest for the Holy Grail of College Hockey in Bosto

As for the game itself, i don't have any reason to believe it will be different than the other two meetings. Probably right down to the wire.

Re: The 2016 Beanpot: The Sacred Quest for the Holy Grail of College Hockey in Bosto

OK, good to know it's still on (as of right now - saw tweets that there is still a chance the city could put the kibosh on it) as I have made plans to watch it here in Seattle. And rearranged my day here so I can bolt at 3:30. :) For those of you going - please be safe. Especially the Northeastern and Harvard peeps as I think they will have a more difficult time getting there.

Why don't we play the same night? No need to deconstruct - have a "collaborative" event. The players can skate around Mickey and Goofy. It will be like those drills where they skate around the cones. And there won't be a problem with the attendance, because plenty of kids will be in the crowd. Besides, it will slow the Igles down! :D

Re: The 2016 Beanpot: The Sacred Quest for the Holy Grail of College Hockey in Bosto

It's a good thing this is moving more eastward than northward.

Except that they said it was such a massive storm that it is still going to extend well inland. In fact, they're saying it won't end until 2:00 a.m. I can't dispute why they want to play, but it's not going to be a fun evening. The snow has started too soon and travel will be a nightmare by game time - and after.

When Darius was a kid we played in the snow. Still do.

Yes...but did you walk uphill BOTH ways (still trying to figure out how that can be the case, but then again, it's been a long time since I took calculus)? Mookie was probably so light-headed after playing that he THOUGHT he was walking uphill on the way home... :D

On a more serious note, dozens have been hurt when a <a href="http://www.wcvb.com/news/bus-overturns-on-i95-near-madison-connecticut/37881614" target="_blank"><u>bus overturned</u></a> in Madison, CT.

Again, I realize that it's a "city" event, but many people have to travel in from the suburbs. The governor has already told people to stay off the roads. I can't imagine that there won't be serious consideration to postpone this - the dearth of "open" dates notwithstanding...

Has the Crockpot been postponed yet?

Too late unless the city declares a state of emergency. I was out walking around an hour or so ago and it really wasn't that terrible if you walked and drove slowly.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....this is BOSTON...nobody has driven "slowly" since their horse carts in the 1700s...

Well then I guess because there was a snow-related accident 150 miles away, we should just cancel everything despite there being no suitable postponement date.
