Thank you much. :) We know for sure you'll be playing Dartmouth in the second night of the Ledyard Classic (Dartmouth's tournament), as they announced set opponents to prevent Colgate and Dartmouth from playing a non-conference game (they are both in the ECAC).

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Most of the Lowell conference schedule fits with the mirror hypothesis. 18 of the 22 games are exactly where they would be if the schedule was mirrored. The differences are the Merrimack series, which has been moved from October to December; and the move of Beanpot teams Boston University and Northeastern from different weeks in February to a single weekend in January. The BU/NE switch is simple since it replaces non-conference games with Arizona State. The Merrimack change is not so clean however. The new dates were open on Lowell's schedule, but Merrimack played a single game that weekend, a conference game against Connecticut.

It looks like Hockey East will mirror the conference schedule but will tweak it just a little.

Last two weeks I put in. The rest is sort of messy because the Beanpot is on a different "week" from the previous year.

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Per the WMU schedule on their site, the GLI is going to be played on Dec. 30-31.

The Red Wings usually play a game on NYE at JLA but they're playing at Toronto in an outdoor game that day.

Attendance is going to be terrible. Just because Tech folks have nothing to do on NYE doesn't mean those from the other three schools don't. :p

Seriously, this is sad. This is the last one ever at the Joe and the attendance is going to be cut in half.

If Michigan fans are such great fans, I'm sure you'll pack the Joe.

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Given what we know already, Bowling Green's a "game long" (although very easily remedied if they travel to Alaska this year), and unless they're playing Ferris in a 3rd (or 5th, or they both play the same presumably Big Roll-a-20 or Western AHC opponent), it's possible they may both leave a game on the table this year.

In the WCHA, every team will always have at least one Alaska trip. Four teams make one trip to Alaska. Four teams play at both Alaskas. So the Alaska schools are eligible to play 34 regular season games. Four teams could play 36 and four more could play 38. Most schools opt to max out at 36. To play an extra weekend to use the full 38 is foolish when you consider the amount of travel already involved.

My understanding is BG plays at UAF this season.

I thought there's also a possibility that you get both Alaska teams at home? I could have sworn seeing that either last year or the year before...

Of course, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the WCHA scheduling system. Is it always play your "geographic rival" four times (2 home 2 away whether by weekend or home/home), then with the remaining 8 teams and 24 games, it's 6 weekends away, 6 weekends home, with 4 of the teams being both? Or did I completely botch that up?

For any opponent in a four year span you will play both home & away in 2 of the years and the at home only in a third and away only in a fourth. The way the matrix sets up. If you have both Alaskas (or any rival pair outside your own) one year you play both at home and once away, the next you play both away and one at home.

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

I read on the Michigan Tech thread that Michigan Tech will be at Michigan October 21 and 22.

Just got this from a Michigan alum:
"The Michigan Tech series is going to be Oct. 21-22, the same weekend as Homecoming football, so that's your Michigan sports fix weekend. We plan to recognize the 96 national title team that weekend too. :-)"
FYI,

Re: The 2016-17 Schedules Thread

Hopefully we'll have a more important game to be watching that day in a different sport.

First of all, don't hold your breath ;) :D

Ohio State has miami at home on NYE dumb scheduling because i expect the football team to be playing a much bigger game

Second of all, college hockey is often played on New Years Eve. Not every year, but most years. They shouldn't have to rework the whole hockey schedule around the 3 or 4 hockey schools who have decent football teams who might be playing that day.
