Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

I bought tickets through a LivingSocial deal literally at Noon today for the Manchester Regional and boy am I glad I did!

Stacked field coming to Manchester and excited to see the Gophers live for the first time!

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

You realize St. Cloud beat them less than 48 hours ago, right?

Not taking anything away from st cloud as they are a good team but I'm pretty sure NoDak will be a different animal in Fargo. UND played terrible for large stretches this last weekend and certainly didn't have as much to play for as cloud. If North Dakota plays well I like their chances in this regional. Going to be plenty of green there.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

They just went chalk. Not sure why, but they decided to not mess around as much this year. Maybe they couldn't get a consensus of the best way to do it if they started doing lots of switches???

also, due to conference changes, the balance of power in the committee has probably changed.

they didnt go chalk if they did providence would have been sent to Fargo. Yale would have been sent to Providence and Minnesota would have been sent to Fargo as well. I dont understand why Providence gets to play basically at home when they are not hosting. Miami totally got screwed and should be upset.

Yes, I agree. They are certainly the favorite. But to say book them in the Frozen Four now is idiotic considering St. Cloud has beaten them twice.

Confused about them not switching Harvard and MN.

Wished they had as I would have hit it exactly. Would have liked to see Harvard and Yale fans go after each other in Manchester. A couple of thoughts on where the committee has taken stands recently: Avoiding intraconference first round matchups is a priority. Preserving the top 8 bracket integrity, keeping 1-8,2-7,3-6,4-5 in the same region, is too so that should all top seeds advance the integrity is perfect for round 2. Only host schools tend to throw that off. With a deep division between 15 and 16 giving the overall #1 the 16 seed is also. The 3rd and 4th bands are treated as equals within the band for integrity purposes.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

The committee hedged their best when it came to Miami. They were the lowest #1 seed and on paper were set to play #13. Instead they got #15...just in a bad location. would have been much more egregious to have minnesota state come east to play providence.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

From the flip side on Miami, they're likely missing their top two goal scorers and they're going to get to play likely the most offensively-challenged team in the field that isn't RIT. So if there was a game where you could play great D and shut the other team down tomake up for the lack of scoring, it's that one.

The second game may not be so fun though.

Yes, all 10 fans that will make the trip. You think actual attendance at the Joe this weekend was bad? The pictures of an empty Compton Family Arena will rival that of the B1GMistake. Sure, those seats have been sold but actual attendance?

It is going to be funny when they announce a near sellout to an empty rink though.

I have a group of 12 confirmed making the drive. Change the regional system if you want attendance then. Maybe applaud the NCAA for holding the bracket integrity for the #1 overall seed.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Good, tell your friends because there will be lots of Domers selling tickets off. Just play hard ball and you might get some amazing deals

Are you listening Mankato fans this applies to you as well!

The tickets I have seen, so far, given what I think availability is going to be, are goofy. Plus, I have heard on our end from a source I trust that each school is getting 400 of them. Dunno what my chances there might be. If I am a Domer I am putting ads on Omaha Craigslist, etc., but I have seen none as yet.

The hotel was no issue whatsoever, and just 5 miles from the arena. Plenty of availability.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

What would be the difference if you played RIT in Providence over South Bend? Bracket integrity is still in play. (not arguing it should be that way)

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

was part of ND season ticket package.

And, under those circumstances, I do have some concerns that a percentage of their fans won't even bother to try and unload them.

They are already paid for and a lot of people are lazy.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

We have fans and would have attended in force if we were playing in Providence or Manchester. Sending us to South Bend made no sense and killed attendance there. BC gets to stay home as does Providence (how do they get to play in their home state when they were on the bubble?).

everyone associated with harvard (and ylae) are rich secret society 1%'ers who can fuel their private jets to attend any regional (then head to nova scotia inbetween to see a total eclipse of the sun).

It's going to be hilarious when they announce a sellout and the arena is about 15% full.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Confused about them not switching Harvard and MN.

That swap would not impact ticket sales, and it degrades integrity. The travel rule is just a BS excuse they use when they want make $ > integrity.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

If I was Miami I would be ****ed...

you think? The Providence IN Providence is the worst part. They're not the host -Brown is. The last AT-LARGE team in the field is rewarded with a home game, while the highest 2 seed and a 1-seed has to play in their backyard.

Miami would have been better served losing first round conference tourney, taking the rest and get to play in South Bend.

I think the calls to return first rounds back to campus are only going to get louder.

In my opinion that was a nice love letter the NCAA gave to North Dakota. Quinnapiac with a banged up goalie. Face the winner of a team one game above .500 and a team that is in the tournament for the first time since 1981. Mankato also got a soft path.
