Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

OK, the pecking order for 1 seed is established:

If Ferris State wins tonight and tomorrow, they are the last 1 seed.
If they stumble, Wisconsin is 1 seed with a win the B1G title game.
If they also lose, Quinnipiac is next up and will take the top spot with an ECAC title.
If they also lose, Lowell takes the last top seed with a Hockey East title.
If everyone loses it is back to Ferris.

Also, if you're on Twitter, be careful whom you listen to about the outcomes of various games. There are people out there who don't know but think they do. If you have a question, either do the simulation yourself or ask here. For example, Providence has NOT locked up a spot with Cornell's loss.

ETA: With UAA's loss, Vermont has now locked up a bid. Providence could still miss.

Haven't run the scenario, but I think Vermont is still vulnerable. Cutline is 14. It goes to 12 if UNH and OSU win. Let Colgate and NoDak win also, and I think Vermont might be out.

How does Prov miss now?

Edit. Never mind. That is the very scenario that gets Providence out. Vermont must win their compare in spite of losing RPI.

Looks like the UND loss has them at a lock. I ran what I think are all the scenarios and they come in at 11 to 13 (even if all the lower seeds win they are 12)

Prov and VT each still miss about 1/10 remaining scenarios. Not clinched, but close.

If I'm figuring right, I think Colgate punched their ticket with their win tonight, unless there is a scenario out there I'm missing.

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

UND needs to win its consolation game, and needs some favorites (highly ranked teams that would have made the tournament at large) to win their conference tournaments

Interesting, that's what the buzz was heading into the weekend. When I run the predictor on CHN I don't show them getting far enough up to get in.

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

Strange that the third place game will have 3-4K more fans then the night cap.

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

Don't you fret. The Broncos are going to bounce back tomorrow afternoon and sending the Greenies packing.

Probably. Western already beat us in a meaningless game for them, while we were trying to win the Penrose Cup. Why not win another meaningless game with our NCAA Tournament hopes on the line?

At least Miami should pound Denver tomorrow. That will help ease the sting of the loss. :p:D:D

Re: The 2014 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread`

Providence and Vermont are still not locks.
Cornell and Northeastern are eliminated.
Colgate is the 10th team into the tournament. A win tomorrow and they likely get a 2 seed in Worcester. Go figure.
Ohio State, New Hampshire and the LTHC (and AHA) need the autobid.
Teams still alive for bubble and playing: Mankato and North Dakota.
Teams still alive for bubble and done: Vermont, Providence, Michigan
The cut line is now 14.

All favorites win tomorrow: Vermont/Mankato/Michigan in, NoDak out
An Ohio State or New Hampshire win = Michigan out as well
Ohio State AND New Hampshire win = Mankato out as well.
Ohio State AND New Hampshire AND Mankato win = Vermont out.

Just curious how is UVM out with Ohio State, New Hampshire and Mankato winning ? They end up 12th in that scenario don't they?
