The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

true, not to mention the fact that the teams cant have an "if " game on their schedule. When drawing up schedules they need to know they are playing that game, cant be open ended

Yah!!
Does the gopher dodge classic have a 3rd place game?
Did the Miami Xmas tourney have a 3rd place?
Dartmouth's New Year's Eve tourney?

Guess what? It's always gonna happen. Peeps bed to find something else to gripe about.

When donato goes Harvard will be back.

That's a staple for every game, first powerplay starts with "Gimme a B!" Everyone in the DogHouse gets into it, lots of fun. "We've got jobs" was my favorite one of the night though, and I wasn't alone in that opinion either. Whoever started that one deserves applause.

Oldie but a goodie
The bu section next door would always respond "flippin burgers"

Mookie likes when the igles kiddies chant "safety school" at Harvard :D

I don't see anything to suggest this will cause such a tremendous revival.

Even JY knows what that is and asked BC students not to use that cheer

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

I never called the kids the 'enemy'.. just everything overall with NU & the 'Pot..

Yup. In the last 4 finals we've scored 9 goals in the two games with Chris Rawlings in net and 3 goals in the two games with Thiessen/Witt in net. We just can't ever put it all together.

What does bukakke have to do with a Northeastern power play? And, yes, I know what it means (thank you Howard Stern).

I guess it implies teamwork but kind of stretching it I think. But I'd prefer they not use it with all these kids around.

Re: The 2014 Beanpot: The 25th Times a Charm

...I understand NU fans being dejected and I feel bad about that...But anyone else whining after a night like that that there's something wrong with the Beanpot and they ought to change the format or invite Maine or play it in Worcester or whatever must either be a sad BU fan or didn't watch the game...The real problem, attendance-wise, is Harvard... and they have no interest in their program at all, Beanpot or no Beanpot...I bet if they were routinely making NCAA tournaments, they would get better crowds there...

You sound like you're too young to remember but let's not forget, Harvard was a force in the Beanpot until Bill Cleary faded from the scene. In fact, they were very much a dominating team all through the '80s and into the '90s. National champs in '89 and in the national championship game a couple of other times in that era. One of the biggest movies of the '80s (Love Story) has Harvard hockey as the backdrop. And yes, Harvard fans turned out in droves.

As someone pointed out elsewhere in this thread, the problem is not so much Teddy as it is the AD and upper echelons of the administration. It's interesting to note that during Harvard hockey's heyday, Harvard basketball was the red-headed stepchild. Now, it seems, the opposite is true. I can't imagine this is sitting well with the Harvard hockey alumni but their complaints are apparently falling on deaf ears.

On a brighter note, at least the Beanpot has become a legitimate three-team tournament as Northeastern has been more than competitive in recent years with the 2011 and 2014 arguably qualifying as epic games. BU will be back. It would have been great for the tournament if NU had won last night but the Huskies have been snakebit since the '88 win.

In their last nine Beanpot games, BU's record is 1-8. My how things have changed.
