The 2011 New England Patriots

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Apparently some guy followed the Pats around for a year and did a movie, starts tonight at 9pm on the NFL network

Very well done. Part II is next Thursday.

At one point Belichick is on a media conference call, and he's casually eating his dinner while reporters are firing away with stupid questions. He's on autopilot and doesn't even bother to come up with something funny to say when a reporter asks him if anyone has ever kissed his rings. Instead he just shakes his head and replies, "No, I don't think so," with a bit of a smirk.

I like the trash talking with that dope from Baltimore, can you read the scoreboard:D I had no idea coaches trash talked also. I can see the fatman doing it but Belichek, no way

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Nice game by Pats. Need to improve in a few areas obviously but San Diego is a good team. Like the offensive play calling this year a lot. Keep utilizing those TE's until someone can prove they can stop it (great grab for a TD by Gronk as he got pasted in the end zone by one player while the other one tried to rip the ball out).

Some other thoughts:

1) With Wade Phillips finally being put out to pasture, is Norv Turner far and away the worst coach in the NFL? I can't think of the last time I've seen a team leave the sidelines wide open with less than 10 seconds left in the half and no timeouts so the other team can throw quick passes and step out of bounds to get into field goal range.

2) Starting to worry about McCourty. I realize he's not always matched up with these guys, but the last two top receivers on the opposing team have had career games in front of him. That's a trend that needs to change quickly.

3) Having said that, with Manning out they shouldn't be facing too many more QB's like Rivers in the conference. Reminds me a lot of Warner in that he's a gambler throwing deep. Problem is he's not as accurate as Warner hence the multiple turnovers. Not sure how good San Diego's O-line is, but the lack of pass rush may have had something to do with this too.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

The D line has improved by leaps and bounds. The D secondary is worse if thats possible.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

It's always tough to tell on TV, but it seems to me McCourty is in man-to-man more than I've seen any NE CB in years. It actually seems like he's getting less safety help than Revis in the two games I've seen each team play.

I expect a couple roster moves this week, with Koppen and Wendell out on the OL, Wright out indefinitely, Hernandez expected to miss several weeks, a couple of guys in the secondary banged up, and Mesko hurt. At the very least they'll need someone who can punt if Mesko can't go.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

The betting line for the Pats-Bills has swelled up to 9 and Vegas may turn it to double figures soon. Until I'm proven wrong, the Pats will cover. I think a lot of Buffalo fans will be brought back to Earth after this week.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

I think the Bills will give a spirited game. I do see a problem if they gave up 35 to Oakland though in trying to keep Brady off the scoreboard. Fitzgerald's a better QB than I think he gets credit for. He's going to be in a situation like Rivers though where he'll need to score pretty much every time he gets the ball and have zero turnovers.

Thinking back on the Chargers game I'm thinking part of the problem with the pass rush is Rivers gets rid of the ball so quickly. Of course that could be because his top receiver was always open. The point is I'm curious of the rush improves next game. They certainly seem to hold up well against the run which you might expect with two 400 pound guys in the middle of the line.

Regarding McCourty, he doesn't seem to be following the ball as much this year. Instead he's face guarding receivers. I expect him to improve but its taking a little while to shake the rust off. He'd better be back to last year's level in time for that Jets game.

Agreed. There have already been 3-4 times this year where he's had the coverage but doesn't make the play on the ball correctly (aka "The Darius Butler"). Those plays were few and far between last year.

I think Bill walks into the offensive meeting and tells them "we won't be punting this week" and walks back out.

How she broke the news of the speeding warning:

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Dan Koppen and Myron Pryor to IR.

Not too worried about the O line at this point. Solder has jumped in a lot quicker than expected. One more injury and I'll get concerned, but right now they can absord Koppen's loss.

Not Pryor's biggest fan, but they're really going to need Deaderick to pick up where he left off last year when he gets back on the field (week 6 maybe?). Not sure what we can count on from Wright given that he keeps getting concussions.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Can't see Ocho getting any more balls his way

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Patriots lose. Brady throws 4 picks. Ocho drops an easy TD pass. What a wonderful day...

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Can't make any more mistakes than the Pats made on the road and expect to win, what a lousy freakin game that was. The Pats D still sucks, big shock:d

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Stupid playcalling on that last drive, Ocho with the drop, taking WAY too much time to score, blowing that timeout, porous defense, not letting Buffalo score that TD. STUPID, STUPID PLAY.
