The 2011 New England Patriots

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

no hate quite like atheist hate... Pats beat a lesser team film at 11

Pretty much this.

I joke about it, but I don't care who he worships. I just find the football part of it fascinating, comical, and mesmerizing.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Nice win out of the Pats. I was worried that an undiscplined young D would be chasing around Tebow all day but they settled down and forced him to throw the ball downfield. Its always the same with these running QB's, be it Kordell Steward, Doug Flutie, and now Tebow. Don't run around the backfield chasing them, make them beat you in the air which they usually can't do.

Other thoughts:

Champ Bailey must be nearing the end, because I remember him killing the Pats in previous matchups. Yesterday you wouldn't know he's on the field except for when he was ******ing out his teammates.

QB pressure is getting much better. Like how they stepped up after Carter's injury. This will come in handy in rattling all the sub-par QB's they could potentially face in the playoffs (really, anybody not names Roethlisberger).

Don't like all the injuries, but the AFC right now is a war of attrition. Houston's down to their 3rd string QB and their top WR is hurt. Steelers have top safety & center out and a battered QB. Baltimore has Joe Flacco healthy. So, everybody has problems.

Can't get over how bad Baltimore looked last night. If you can't beat a Norv Turner coached team, how good are you? D also looked old and slow. I hate to admit it but if Pittsburgh gets healthy this year I consider them the team to beat.

It only happens when they get a lead, they're much looser after that before that you couldn't pull pin out of their collective butts

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

The bad news is Carter needs season ending surgery. This makes the D even weaker for the playoffs. They'll probably win out for the season but could be 1 and out in the playoffs unless they score a lot of points to make up for the D.

I don't see them winning a playoff game unless they are a 1 seed and then only one game. The D is so bad Brady will have to score everytime on the field against the Steelers or Ravens. Is Chung going to play again? or is he done

Normally I'd agree with this 100% if all the other QB's in the playoffs weren't so bad. The only team I can see winning a shootout with Brady is Pittsburgh. I thought more highly of Baltimore until I actually saw them play. If SD could destroy their D with ease, I don't see the Ravens keeping up with the Pats too much better. I'm also not big on seeing the Jets again because its tough to beat a team 3 times in one year.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Somehow when Brady does a QB sneak it looks weak. Green-Ellis in for the TD. Game is sealed.

normally he is a sneak monster; pretty effective on the quick count non-sneak-count sneak...yesterday he looked like he was trying to curl up behind his line and take a nap on a few of those...my thought is that if he re-injures his knee on one of those sneaks then everybody will be going nuts over losing him for the want of 1 yard.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Win out and its a number 1 seed in the AFC so all games go thru Foxboro.

It seems like most of the time that the sneaks are effective is when Brady notices that there's no one over the center, so he free lances with the center and gets six yards down the field before anyone touches him. It looked like Denver had the middle pretty blocked up Sunday.

Nice of the Steelers to pull a gag job in SF last night (insert your own jokes here). Assuming the Pats win out, they'd be #1 now with Baltimore the #2. Houston has to be #3 leaving Denver #4 and Pittsburgh #5 with Jets/Bengals the last seed. That means Steelers-Denver & Houston-Jets/Bengals. I can easily see the wildcards winning both those games, which would set up Steelers-Ravens part 3 and, wait for it...Jets-Pats part 3!

I always get nervous when the team I root for hits post-season on a long winning streak, especially the pats. they are prone to a dud once in a while and I hate to think it could be in their first playoff game again.

After the last few years, why you expect anything else? Very flawed team carried by Brady, and I mean carried. Without him this team is nothing. The O line might be the only other thing worth mentioning and even that is suspect. Gronk, Hernandez, Welker, while good makes me think of David Patten, Brady makes them that way, No running game other than a 5 ft nothing guy. I agree with Jon that the SEC has teams with better D, LSU certainly has better cornerbacks. They might be a Number 1 seed and go down in the first game, in fact I'd say its likely

Only hope I have.... Setting up stillers jets again this yr.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Globe calling for Gino and Gil to retire. I don't listen to them on the radio. Do they make that many mistakes?
Tought to admit it, but I have to agree. I love to listen to Gil, but down & distance has become a crapshoot, continually mixing up players, not keeping up with the action etc. The pipes are still tremendous; maybe he needs a spotter or something to keep him on track, especially with yardline, down & distance. Gino just flat out rambles. Score recaps are all over the place (and once you start reporting the lower score first like "...score at the half, Raiders 14-Detroit 21"), it is time to turn off the mic.

2nd one is Gisele's (um Tom's), in Brentwood I believe. Not sure about the 1st one. Maybe Kraft?
