The 2011 New England Patriots

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Tought to admit it, but I have to agree. I love to listen to Gil, but down & distance has become a crapshoot, continually mixing up players, not keeping up with the action etc. The pipes are still tremendous; maybe he needs a spotter or something to keep him on track, especially with yardline, down & distance. Gino just flat out rambles. Score recaps are all over the place (and once you start reporting the lower score first like "...score at the half, Raiders 14-Detroit 21"), it is time to turn off the mic.

Thank you.. those two are sounding like a couple of old men who accidently ended up in the broadcast booth. Don't try to count how many times they have to correct themselves. It's wayyy too many. Listening to them is an exercise in frustration at this point. What's really embarrassing for Gil and Gino is that Zolack, who is on the sideline, constantly beats them to the punch on penalties, player names and the like. He really is the one guy who keeps listeners straight on what's happening.

This 35,000 sq. ft monstrosity is being constructed in Brookline for Red Sox owner John Henry and his bride.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Pats O line is being held together with duct tape, one starter left? Brady is getting killed or hurried every play

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Unreal, the Pats are just rolling over waiting for Santa to come, good job blowing a #1 seed

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Remember when Miami ran the Wildcat and the Pats were just baffled, Deja Vu all over again, the Pats don't have a clue on either side of the ball

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Nice play by Branch, I can see he and Brady are both opening presents already

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

NESN is showing the Bruins-Buffalo game where Lucic leveled Miller. Much more exciting than what's going on live in Foxboro.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Can't believe the Pats came back after looking that awful in the 1st half

Well they did look awful and all of us were commenting in the stands how they went to sleep in the first half. But they were only 17 down and everyone ended up going home happy. I commented early in the game they're better off when they no huddle the offense and sure enough in the 2nd half they speeded things up and Miami couldn't huddle up or substitute on defense as much.

It was colder in the parking lot than in the stands where we sat in the sun nice and toasty. Sure a lot of Dolphin fans around the stands and there was some yakking going on in the stands especially in the first half when they were up 17-0.

Buffalo could be another toughie next week but they should win to get the home field advantage throughout. With this defense and McCourty getting burned each week, this could be one and out again. I swear he should play back more so he won't get beat and he needs to turn around to see the ball coming his way. But if your man runs pass you, he's basically got to turn his back and run like mad to catch up and hope the pass is underthrown. He is toast each week since he came back.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

I think the Pats are going to make the Bills remember the reason they've dominated Buffalo in the recent series. At least a 3 TD win for the Pats. (Hopefully plenty of passes to Welker to pad my fantasy final.)

Pats need to fire secondary coach, or if they don't have one need to hire one immediately. The technique these guys take is terrible, and even I can see this from my couch after a few beers. They never turn around to find the ball, and facegaurd receivers even in the back of the endzone which is always a guaranteed flag. Nice Duane Starks INT by McCourty, which is when you're beaten by the receiver but the QB underthrows him by 5 yards, thus dropping the pass into your hands. With the pass rush getting a bit better (especially if they bring Carter back next year) the top pick next year has to go the safety position since we needlessly cut Sanders this year.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

I'm way behind here, but I'm not sure what to think about this Brady inury. It may be just the usual end-of-season, banged-up QB situation. Let's hope that's all it is.

To go 12-3 with this personnel is great. The question as to why the personnel isn't better, of course, is problematic. I just don't think they're coaching up the guys on defense well enough. I know that's kind of vague, but whether it's Butler, Cunningham, Brace, Wheatley, Wilhite -- even McCourty has gotten worse with the more coaching he's received.

The odd thing is that they have been able to get contributions out of some of the lower-round draft picks (Deaderick, Pryor before he got hurt) and UDFAs (Love, Tarpinian). So maybe it's not the coaching but the talent evalation? I don't know. If they can secure the No. 1 seed, they'll need two home wins to get to the Super Bowl. Good spot to be in.

I haven't seen a ton of New England games but my guess is that Belichick knows that the defense is nowhere near good enough to shut down even mediocre offenses. So they gamble, and focus on takeaways. If you're +2 in turnovers, that alone can make up for about 100 yards allowed. Spot the New England offense a 100 yard advantage, and they'll rack up both points and yards faster than the defense will give them up.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the playoffs. Every team in the AFC is flawed in some significant way, whether we're talking Denver, Houston, Oakland, Baltimore . . . the one team that does scare me is Pittsburgh. Especially if they're healthy.

Re: The 2011 New England Patriots

Pats love to play from behind, god their D sucks especially early in games. Buffalo doing whatever they want
