Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

RPI vs Union is without question the series of the week, and for these two teams it is the series of the year. I think that Union has to sweep if they hope to make the playoffs and RPI is almost in the same position as Brown is currently one point ahead with a game (against Yale) in hand, and Colgate is only one point back with the softest remaining schedule of all of the contenders for 8th spot. RPI / Union will be 2 VERY CLOSE games.

Agreed 100%. If you check a few recent postings on the RPI thread, it clarifies in details how important the HTH games involving the bottom five teams is crucial from here on in.

For Brown and Colgate, if they manage to sweep those remaining games, chances are, it clinches them a final play-off spot. They both control their own destiny. RPI needs to sweep Union and Colgate and then they still need other games to fall right or find points elsewhere to make it

Scenarios:

Brown with 10 points in the bank has games left with Colgate and Yale. If they win both of those games, they end up at 14 points minimum, win all the tie breakers, and others would have to get points elsewere to beat Brown out.

Colgate is only at 7 points but with 4 HTH games left against this lot, would also be in a good position with a sweep of their remaining HTH games. It would get them to 15 points, win the tie breakers, and get them ahead of both Brown and RPI.

RPI needs to sweep the three remaining HTH games and hope Brown/Colgate squander points against Yale/each other for them to have a chance.

Union would need to sweep AND needs extra points/help to make it. Yale looks to be too far out of it, but they can play spoiler.

Doing a similar breakdown, in the race for second, Havard and Dartmouth look to be a in the best position tpo grab second and third place. SLU and Clarskon each face Cornell twice, while Harvard and Darty are done with Cornell and have 2 games each left vs Brown and Yale. Quinnipiac is still ahead, but they have two games in hand. If Harvard and Darty sweep their Yale/Brown games this weekend, they would be in 2nd and third place after this weekend.

EACA results are, to me, far easier to "predict" than Hockey East, which could play like a late night WeatherChannel feature to bridge the gap between when tornadoes occur and earthquakes devastate.*

* A humble attempt at simile which I in no way intend to diminish the horror of these natural disasters.

The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week 14 lineup

Lineup for week 15:

Another week with an early start.
A rare MONDAY (TODAY) tilt with Princeton back on the ice.
Get your picks in on time.

Results for week 14 to follow later.

Things are sure heating up down the stretch in the fight for playoff positioning.
Two points seperating spots two thru six and a three way tie for third place.
Two teams tied for the last playoff spot.

Gotta love this time of the year !!.

Game of week is the beanpot game between Havard and BU. BU is back to it's winning ways. This game is crucial for both teams to gain points in the PWR and TUC rankings for the NCAA tournament bids.
