Sykora makes the Ducks/Wild tilt a game again. 3-2 Anaheim with 7:30 left in regulation.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Meh. He's 20. They're overpaying, but not by a tremendous amount. He's a high-energy forward who plays the body like few others and can score a little (a real little). He'll still be a RFA when the deal is done too.

Not a huge fan of it, but whatever.

This also locks up a very young core for a few years too. That's ok.

Savard is unrestricted next year. Wheeler, Rask, Boychuk and Stuart are all restricted next year. And the cap is probably going down next year. Point is, if they want to retain Savard the asking price floor starts at $4 million per for him. It's a good way to negotiate yourself into bad territory if you're Chiarelli because people will look at Lucic's numbers and say, "Wait, you're paying that guy that much? Well, OK... Cough it up."

If Lucic becomes a 40 goal a year guy, no problem you got him locked up at a bargain. Of course Lucic just becoming a consistent 40 point a year guy would be a nice first step.

The Wild come back from a 3-0 deficit in the third period to win 4-3 in OT. Entertaining period of hockey. All started with Scott pwning Parros.:D

Gotta love those Kings!!!

Ugh.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

They're your secret lovers, don't deny it.

And now we have a brouhaha. Ivanans is pounding Shelley's head in.

I want to take Dustin Brown home for dinner and introduce him to my parents.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Speaking of the Kings, how the hell is Jonathan Quick a #1 NHL goalie at this point and Jimmy Howard isn't? I don't think you could have gotten anyone to lay money on that back in the day.

If Jimmy Howard had been drafted by the Kings, he would've had his career begin and flameout by now. Instead he got a stay of career execution playing for Detroit.

It's great to lose your best offensive players so someone who "amps up the crowd real good" can earn 4+M a year?
Where you guys getting 4m a year?
"Per club policy, financial terms of the deal will not be disclosed."
Someone got a bug in Ciarelli's office?

I don't know the numbers, and don't care. Lucic is the grittiest hockey player to wear a Bruins uniform since a Cam Neely/Terry O'Reilly. A heart and soul type player. You don't let players like that get away. You lock 'em up. I like the deal.

You're obviously just being a clown and looking for a fight while being purposefully obtuse, but google is your friend.

Happy reading.

You know who else was a player like that? Martin Lapointe, good thing the Bruins got Lucic signed for a million a year less than they signed him. Of course, when they signed Lapointe, it wasn't the cap era. Hmm.

No fight... I had only read the Bruin's release previously posted.

Thanks for the reads.

Lapointe... I liked him. Scored 40 points or more in 3 of 15 NHL seasons. Lots of guys like that. Another guy like that... Cam Neely. Scored 69 or more points in 6 of 13 seasons, and could beat the snot out of any one.
Lucic scored 42 in his second season, 21 yr. old. You may be right, but I like Lucic's upside. I see his future more of a Neely type than a Lapointe type. Time will tell.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Huh? You guys have 4 guys on the team with a contracts that goes to (or past) 2011/12:

Krejci
Lucic
Wideman
Thomas

Unless 26 is very young, you have a very odd definition of core.
I'm talking about this year and the next few - hence "a few years" - and that includes Patrice Bergeron (23).

I didn't say I was a huge fan of it. They're certainly going to have some major decisions very soon and their window to win is basically this year and maybe next, but the point is Lucic is 20 and brings a lot to the team that doesn't necessarily show up in his own point totals.

What the hell, are you high? His contract is up after next season. How is this season and next season a few years? That's two seasons, a pair, a couple, not a few.:p

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

So if McClellen's keeping his word, Greiss will likely start the next game. Interesting.

Can we call up any of our other 73 goalies? Not sure what's worse...whatever the hell Nabby was doing last night or coughing up a goal when the guy is shooting 2 feet behind the net from 20 feet away.

Man, getting a little nit picky much? Bergeron will be resigned.

The other thing with this is that other than Thomas stupid contract, everyone is tradeable. Unless someone absolutely ****s the bed, you could find a taker for anyone on this Bruins team. And frankly, even if someone does start to suck they could probably find a trade partner. Hell, if Scott Gomez can be moved anyone can.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Ugh... I am really beginning to hate the Hawks bandwagon being SRO at the moment... People are taking the Hawks/Wings rivalry and making tomorrow's game out to be a Game 7 or something....

It's Oct. 7! Calm down... Neither team really has anything going for or against them this year so far... Just go out and play the **** game
