The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

How Not To Conduct A Broadcast
To get this kind of tempered production out of Beninati helps make me look like a jerk whenever I pick on him about his work on Versus. That said, his work on Comcast Sports Net-Washington is generally pretty good and I find that I don’t mind listening to him call Caps games on there. This also helps show me why folks from D.C./Virginia/Maryland that hear him for the entirety of a season would think I was being an unruly mob of one when trashing the guy.
GLM, I accept your apology.

Thanks! I figured I should keep it honest for the people at the least.

Besides, it just helps me add fuel to my anti-Versus fire since they're the ones making him into an annoying broadcaster for a national audience. :D

You're not the only one that finds Benin-idiot annoying!

Watched the Caps feed while listening to the Leafs radio broadcast. Even with a 40 second delay it was more enjoyable.

And Mike Haynes' fight calls have always been over the top.

One of the better examples of this:

There are rumors abound that Glen Sather is close to being fired! Oh, please be true!

Way, way late notice. But, I have an extra ticket for the Pens-Flyers game tonight. If no one is in the area and wants to go to the game, it's just going to be scalped. Anyone?

Message candycanes99, he's a flyers fan and lives near Philly.

Bill Tenderness returns to Montreal tonight. Hopefully wearing a toilet seat is what made him forget how to go to the net, not playing in that building.

This should have happened five years ago. What am I saying, it should have happened 9 years ago.

Who said this? Eklund?

By the way, Torts scratching Redden and Kotalik tonight. I guess that's a way to send a message.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

I can't wait to see the Providence Bruins defensive unit try to stop Chicago tomorrow.

Rask better be in net, maybe that way they'll only lose 7-1.

:(

Per Bob McKenzie:

"Initial prognosis on Zetterberg (on clean hit from Ohlund) is not great. Further testing and evaluation to come but he may be out a while."

Just. Great.

You have got to be kidding me.

Zetterberg getting an MRI on his shoulder, Babcock said after the game that Henrik drove himself to the hospital for it.

That was just an absolutely rocking, clean hit. As much as I hate another potential injury, thats one of the best hits this year for sure.

Pens-Flyers game tonight

3-on-3 hockey is very, very boring. Not much more to say about tonight's game, other than it wasn't as intense as I thought it was going to be. Good game, though.

Awesome hit. Not an awesome result.

All I heard at one point is that Zetterberg was injured and Ohlund was involved. I'll admit that all I thought of was Ohlund hacking Zetterberg's leg in two, like he did to Mikko Koivu a few years ago.

I'll admit that this was a clean (and awesome) hit, but I still haven't forgiven Ohlund for the Koivu incident, so... **** Ohlund.
