Tennis anyone?

Re: Tennis anyone?

Another great prediction by me . . . ;)
That caught everyone off guard. I didn't see the match - how would you explain this? Did Stosur simply lose her edge after going against tougher opponents? Did Schiavone play out of her mind...?

I can't imagine how insane the odds were of her winning this thing when it started.

Re: Tennis anyone?

It looked to me like Schiavone played the match of her life. She could do no wrong in the second-set tiebreaker.

Nadal-Soderling on serve early in the first set.

Re: Tennis anyone?

How could anyone possibly play well enough to even win two sets against Nadal today, let alone three? Soderling would crush a ground stroke and Nadal would take it behind his body and simply direct it into the only open spot on the court for a winner. W.T.F.?!

Federer and Nadal are huge favorites at Wimbledon, with Roddick third IMO, Soderling and possibly Tsonga (and maybe Berdych) as darkhorses, and Murray and Djokovic wild cards (their games seem messed up right now but they have the talent to advance deep). That's my take, anyway.

Re: Tennis anyone?

That's just it. Nadal is so good at defense - you can kill a shot, but if he gets to it, he's so good at getting depth on those desperation shots (well, for anyone else they're desperation shots) that he's right back in the point.

I can't imagine what it's like to play against a guy who forces you to ace to hold serve and hit clean winners on every other point.

I imagine most of the ATP has nightmares about it.

A perfect match combined with Nadal being off his game is the only way he loses to anyone on clay.

Re: Tennis anyone?

We might be headed for our first upset. #28W Kirilenko lost the first 6-2 and just staved off a break point at 4-4 in the second.

#17M Ljubicic lost his first set 7-5 and is on serve at 3-4 in the second.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Someone want to let Federer know Wimbledon has started? His stunt double lost the first set.

Re: Tennis anyone?

What's going on???

I was watching earlier and they were on serve in the first. Federer was making some errors and Falla was hanging in there.

Re: Tennis anyone?

This morning the ESPN crew was laughing about how easy this match would be for Roger.

Re: Tennis anyone?

5 points away.

0-40 on Roger's serve. 4-4 in the 3rd

Edit: Roger comes back and holds. That was some amazing tennis.
