Tennis anyone?

Re: Tennis anyone?

Those sets were similar - Wozniacki down 3-1 and wins 6-3; down 4-1 in the 2nd and wins 6-4. Heh.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Did anyone see what happened to Isner? Was he just not in good enough shape to play back-to-back days? He was demolished.

I didn't watch, but looking at the match stats I see his opponent only made 10 unforced errors and hit 43 winners...hard to compete when your opponent is playing great tennis. Isner also only had 9 aces after serving 38 in his second round match.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Maria Kirilenko doesn't look particularly bad today.

She won the first set, but is down a break in the second (but just broke back). This would be a pretty major upset as she is seeded 30th and Kuznetsova is seeded 6.

Re: Tennis anyone?

It took 3 match points, but Maria Kirilenko upset the defending champ. If she can pull another upset in her next match and Wozniacki wins hers, they will meet in the quarters.

And what a shock...ESPN is showing another Venus Williams match, even though there's a great live match still going on.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Did ESPN really not show Rezai-Petrova at 7-6 in the third so they could show a replay of a match that happened seven hours ago? They are shameless. The winner of that match will play Venus. Couldn't they have at least used that as a news hook?

Re: Tennis anyone?

Roddick was blown off the court by Teimuraz Gabashvili, a Russian ranked #114 who runs hot and cold. Roddick was out-aced 9 to 4 and had 14 winners to Gabashvili's 58.

The Bryan brothers lost as well.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Stupid NBC. It looks like the agreement that allows DTV to carry the French Open during the week doesn't extend to weekends after 12:00 ET. ESPN2 and Tennis Channel allow DTV to carry coverage simultaneously, giving the viewer the ability to watch several matches at once. NBC doesn't want their ratings hurt, so the French Open Experience ends at Noon, even if matches that were supposed to be covered haven't even started yet.

#7M Verdasco just got taken to a 5th set but we can't watch because NBC has exclusive coverage.

The last American man in the draw is playing in the 5th set against the 16 seed, but NBC has to show us the Nadal match.

Good thing the Williams' sisters won in a walkover, or NBC would probably cover that.

NBC better show the Sharapova match.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Ginepri wins the fifth set 6-4 and America is still alive :p

Re: Tennis anyone?

Maria clawed back to win the second set against Henin and will play the third and final set in the second match of the day on the Chatrier court.

Tomorrow's Schedule

Re: Tennis anyone?

Soderling leads Federer two sets to one, and is now back on serve in the fourth.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Wozniacki was knocked out by an unheralded ugly Italian, but at least Dementieva advanced. The tournament hasn't gone all-ugly yet, thankfully.

Re: Tennis anyone?

1 and 12, 1 and 12, 1 and 12!!!

Soderling has beaten Federer and the 24 straight streak of semi-final appearances in Grand Slams is now over.

Re: Tennis anyone?

Second year in a row he's knocked out the defending French Open champ.

A rematch between him and Nadal for the final would be interesting to say the least.

I can't believe Wozniacki lost. She didn't look great on the court today. Well...she looked fantastic, but her tennis was lacking. She also needs to stop throwing tantrums when she loses key points (this is the second match in a row she threw a fit).
