Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

Which reminds me... Today at the daycare (where I work) I got told by an 11 year old that the light was going to explode if I stood under it. He then went on to explain that it was impossible because (this is where it got fuzzy) something about angles and how the lights were connected and it all sounded very technical. And I was amazed and confused and told him he should be an engineer. :p
Sign him up! Sign him up! Sign him up!

I am an electrical and I could use some help in my enterprise project any way.

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

BTW, a GIS for "naked bike" is a bad, bad idea.

Only if your safe search is turned off. What have you been looking at besides motorcycles.... :D

Oh, and yes...to each his own. My next bike will have lots of plastic on it.

What sets a naked bike apart from a normal bike? I'd presume it does save some amount of weight...

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

no hope for this series.

Badgers sweep. Crease creatures amuse. Phil acts like a jerk. Beer is good. Band is good. Kohl Center is good. Wish I was going to be there. Sorta.

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

Phil acts like a jerk.
You're starting to sound dangerously close to a geriatric gopher fan here...

"All those whippersnappers that cheer and make noise during games are jerks with no hockey knowledge!"

If you hate that he has signs and all you Husky fans want to bring your own, I get that. But that's the Kohl Center's (and its anal-retentive security staff's) problem, not Phil's.

HF & MD are OUR token *click click click*s. Don't be trying to give them to the Gophers.

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

Random stuff from Tech's series notes:
-"Michigan Tech currently ranks third in the nation in strength of schedule.
Minnesota currently ranks first and St. Cloud State is second. Six of Tech’s 12 games this season have been against ranked opponents."
-Russell is 2 wins away from tying Herb Boxer for second all-time in coaching wins for Tech.
-Tech forgot to switch the team stats comparison for the series from Mankato to Wisconsin. So they have Wisconsin's logo and colors in the header and then Mankato's stats (prior to last weekend).

Now back to your regular scheduled non-hockey related discussion. :D

Usually naked bikes don't have the performance of the faired bikes. There isn't much of a weight difference, but obviously a huge aerodynamic difference.

I hate that old guy because he's about 110 years old and they still drag his sorry stupid-sweater wearing azz to all the games even though he's so lost that he thinks he's watching murder she wrote. He's still around but awesome people like Patrick Swayze are taken from us early! Old guy killed Johnny Castle!

Re: Tech at Wisconsin: Prune Juice and Broken Hips

Awful story----GREAT ENDING!

I just heard a great interview on a Madison radio sports show called "On Wisconsin". The show is hosted by Badger BPB man Brian Posick. He interviewed Malcolm Gwilliam of MTU who had a stroke about a year ago. He was diagnosed with a hole in his heart, had it repaired, and is playing balls to the wall. What a fantastic recovery.

If introduced, this player should get a standing "O", but I'm guessing 99% of the fans won't know the story. Props to Mr. Gwilliam.

Indeed, which reminds me, from back when we played Ryerson...

JOHN SCOTT ROCKS said:
I missed Gwilliams goal but I did hear the familiar boom of his shot missing the net and seen him once again not get a shot off on a nice set-up from Olson. It was deja vu all over again from when he played with Rouleau. Rohn or Witt should be on the first PP unit - not Gwilliam but I'm sure Russell will keep the "captain" there all year as he did with Kerr.

To the contrary, his shot has earned him six goals so far this year (including two on the powerplay), tying him with Olson for the team lead. ;)

A bunch of other players each have two goals, so as per the usual, the offense seems to come from whichever 2-3 guys are "on" that night.

Yup, he had a stroke right before one of the games in Minneapolis just before Thanksgiving last year. Just one of the many ridiculous injury problems Tech had last year...

Here's a couple good articles on it if you want to read into it more:

Wow, only JSR would turn the feel-good story of the year (Gwilliam scoring on his first shift back from a freaking stroke) into a criticism on Russell. What a tool.

This is the stat line that is hurting the team the most offensively:
Jordan Baker,F (JR) 12 Games 2 Goals 0 Assists 2 Points
Its not Gwilliam...

I agree. He's one player I can't boo or jeer from Tech, his story is too freaking incredible.

You gotta love his alternatives too:

1. A laughably undersized grinder/passer with a mere half season of college games under his belt and a slow wrist shot which is really only effective at point-blank range. He deserves credit for that gamewinner against Northern, but his other goal was the result of Eidsness being a giant sieve, and his three assists came against the Anchorage penalty kill. He was constantly bumped off the puck last season, and I shudder to think how often opponents would get a shorthanded chance just by knocking him to the ice. He's played 3 games so far this season, with no points and two penalty minutes.

2. A freshman playmaker with no WCHA experience who has shown some promise, but won't really be lighting it up for another year or two.

Yes, I would totally like to see either one of them on the first powerplay unit instead of a 6'2", 210 lb. captain with a decent shot and something to prove. :D

Yeah, Baker has not had the start we needed him to.

Yeah, I actually chuckled out loud when I read the Rohn part. I do hope he gets some more ice time at some point this year, but first PP unit is definitely not where he belongs.

Yeah, I'd like to see him play better and get a little more ice time too, but I also have to be realistic.
